Doesn"t bother me. I have loved country all my life and can still sing Marty R obbins "Gunfighter Ballads" album by heart.

I'd vote yes...
Well, I'm not nearly that closed minded or selfish about my musical likes or dislikes so I feel for the newer fans that don't meet the criteria of some parrothead's definition of "true fans".
Good job - where in this thread did it say anything about being "true fans"? Or say anything bad about country fans?

Does your empathy extend to fans of what passes for country music these days?

Jah,
Only you could turn this thread negative...

I was merely expressing commentary on how impressed some newbies were by the tailgating professionals known as parrotheads. "They" liked it, "we" liked it... it was ALL GOOD! Fun in the sun dude! Try it!

Like Tiki, my first concert was at Alpine. Words can't describe what was going through my head that afternoon in the parking lot. Thank God I got a bootleg copy of the show from a fellow BNer. Otherwise, I'd never have remembered the show! I could only imgaine what the US99 listeners were thinking at that show!

I saw a Keith Urban concert on CMT last week, and noticed the logo on his set behind him, and was actually searching trying to find an image of it with no luck! 1st time back on, and you've got it! Cool! And thanks for showing me where to find it!

Was it the usual crowd or were there more country fans than normal? Just curious here.
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

So true. I was so blown away the first time I went to a show. I was just floored.

Didn't seem any different than normal, but I look forward to tomorrow's comments on US99. People might not have been out and about as much due to the rain though... it started as soon as we got to the lot, so many of the BN crew was huddling under CaptainP's canopy and / or 7lords' tarp spread across bhc's and my van tailgates for the 1st hour or so.

You need to remember that we bought these tickets before LTC came out and was heard by the country only crowd. The Saturday people seemed the same as usual, only wetter. -- gotta laugh about it. A lot of people on the lawn left when the rains came. We can be proud that BN was throughly soaked, does that make us true fans, probably just crazy

I mentioned "true fans" because I've seen that brought up here before and because I've noticed some less than kind comments regarding the influx of new fans. In fact, the first response to my post in this thread agreed with my sentiments. I know it doesn't take much to ruffle y'all's feathers (pardon the pun) but it was merely an observation. You don't have to agree with me, it's just something I've noticed.

As for me being a parrothead, no I'm not but a Jimmy Buffett fan? By all means, yes.

I don't think Parrotheads get upset, that's the whole point of the philosophy. And there ain't nothing elite about a Buffett fan! I would think you've been here long enough to know that! I think it's the country fans that feel like their boats are being rocked by Parrotheads who know how to party!

Your last statement totally contradicts what you're saying. I'm not a parrothead, I'm a Jimmy Buffett fan. If people want to wear loud Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, etc. at his concerts that's fine, it's just not my thing. I was a fan long before the parrothead phenomenon kicked it so I think I get the "philosophy" and the fact that there is none. It's all about the music to me.
