Just curious. For anyone going to Vegas on the 16 or 23, how cheap of flights could you guys find?

Re: Vegas flights
It depends where your coming from and when your flying. If you fly in on Friday and leave on Sunday that will increase your fare right there.Ilph wrote:Just curious. For anyone going to Vegas on the 16 or 23, how cheap of flights could you guys find?
Most people will probably end up paying $200-$300 round trip.
I would check it out at Expedia.com or other similar travel sights just to see what your options are. Once you find a flight to your liking try going directly to that airlines website to see if you can book directly with them. You can usually save the booking cost that Expedia and others would charge you.
Good Luck!

Apparently, October is the change in the travel season, so Vegas rates aren't as cheap as in the summer when they're trying to lure vacationers away from Florida.SMLCHNG wrote:Ilph wrote:Thanks for the advice. I'd looked at a few, but didn't really find any in my price range.![]()

there are times when the travel companies (Orbitz, etc) are better. Sometimes the better prices are on the airline websites.

Ilph, I don't know if this will fit your schedule or your budget, but on Southwest, you can go from Chicago Midway to Vegas roundtrip for $205 if you leave on Friday, Oct 22 and return on Sunday, Oct 24. Follow the link at the bottom of this post, and fill in those airports and those dates. Be sure to select "Depart City/Round Trip" in the "Return" box, and be sure to select "Anytime" for both your depart time and return time. For the Friday flight, scroll over to the "Promotional Fares." You'll have your choice of leaving at 6:35, 3:10, 5:10, 6:30, and 7:20. There is a 12:00 flight, but I would not book it unless you have no other choice because it connects through Kansas City where the rest are nonstop. Not only will it take longer, but it will also cost you $293 rather than $205.
For your return flight, scroll over to the "Fun Fares." You will have to make a sacrifice on Sunday in one way or the other because the only flights available with the Fun Fares are real early and real late. There are three; one leaves at 7:30 AM, the other two leave at 7:30 PM and 8:50 PM. So, you'll either have to get up really early to catch the 7:30 flight on the morning after the show or you'll not get back home till after midnight going on one of the other two. Ask yourself if the pleasure would be worth all the pain!

Funjet has charters from St. Louis to Las Vegas. They don't have the schedule flexibility that a regular airline does, but they can be less expensive.
Flying out on Friday the 22nd and back on Monday is $204.99.
A travel agent can book that for you, or at www.funjet.com

Try Allegiant Air. I'm not sure what cities they fly from, but there may be a city within driving distance. Fares are usually 50-150 bucks less than the major airlines. Allegiant is based in Vegas. Have some good end of summer fares right now.Ilph wrote:Thanks for the advice. I'd looked at a few, but didn't really find any in my price range.
Not like I get to go or anything.
Let's just say that if I had checked on airfares, from Denver it's about $450 round trip per person. From a different airport just 30 mins away in Ft Collins, it's only about $380 RT pp. Not a huge chunk a change but enough to make a difference.
