Conched. . .I was five when Fredrick hit and survived Elena twice. Cammille or however it is spelled is a bad word at home. I agree, get out of the way. Stuff can be replaced. My family is prepping and evacuating. Some may be here for the weekend. This part of Jamacia Mistaka is so easy to type to.

conched wrote:Personal note. I heard comments about the surfers going out with hurricane on the way...

We went through Hurricane Claudette last July and had no idea THAT it was even going to be a Category II. I will never, ever stay home again. Sure, we had no real warnings about it, but it was bad enough to go through...I was never ever so tired of the wind!

Take heed and get out of harm's way.

That's all I know about that. Back to your regularly scheduled chit chat!!
I'm pretty much a chicken therefore I'm totally amazed at those hurricane surfers...that's crazy! The undertow is supposedly horrific :-?

conched, they showed film here of people surfing as Charley approached - Mr. Nicki's son (who lives in Raleigh - like gingerbreadman, experienced with hurricanes) says that happens there all the time. Go figure

We were at the Jersey shore as Charley moved out to sea...the tides were ripping pretty hard, but nothing like down south...it was great for body surfing ....
