In response to what Beach95 said, when Far Side of the World CD was released in 2002, he played at least half a dozen songs from that new album on the tour. I saw him three times that year. At first I wasn't that fond of hearing new songs played, but by the time I saw him the third time, I loved all the new songs! Far Side of the World is one of my favorite albums as a result of the exposure to the new album at that time, but you hardly ever hear him sing songs from that album anymore. Enjoy the songs now cuz you never know whether they will be part of his set list in years to come...

Personally I hope he continues the trend and plays a lot off of LTC. But thats just my $.02 worth.

I remember that show! Didn't he do "Some WHite People Can Dance", too?

My first show was on the FSOTW tour, and yes he did play 8 songs from the new album. I wasn't a huge parrothead then, but I was so trashed that it didn't really matter what he was playing, I was having a blast even though I couldn't sing along. That was probably the best concert I've been to, and it really did turn me on to the new album. I bought it online the next day and must've listened to it about 20 times before I was tired of it and wanted to buy another album.

We should be grateful that he plays 25-30 songs(without an opening act as well). This way there will always be a nice variety of new songs, SYKBH, and some not so popular classics mixed in to each setlist. Of course I'd love to hear a concert of all the classics from the 70s and 80s that I've never heard live. But that wouldn't be fair to the virgins or to Jimmy who is trying to promote his album sales

In Alpine Valley 2002 he played 7 songs off of Far Side.
Not too many in my book. It is nice to hear a song Live once in a while to see how it comes off. I like the rawness of it not polished up in the studio.

try this thought on for size. perhaps jimmy played a lot of songs from "L T C ", because there a lot of people from "R C A" at the show, and he wanted to show his appreciation for their help in promoting "L T C ".

at a time like this, what would key lime lee have to say?

skiboutins wrote:I just checked some recent set lists and compared them to lists from earlier in the tour....and boy is Jimmy HAMMERING the new album.

At last count, he is playing seven songs off LTC.

I have seen Buffett every year since 1991 and have never seen him
beat a new album to death like this.

Now, I am all for hearing something new with something old, but it looks like 1/3 of the list will be new songs at Jones Beach and Fenway.

LTC is a good solid Buffett album...but not a great one.

Jimmy, lighten up a little on the new stuff and fill in with some rarities in the vault....wouldn't we all love to hear a few gems...maybe songs he hasn't played live in 20+ years....now that would make a memorable evening.

Why wouldn't he play alot of new songs from LTC? I think their are 16 songs on the cd and he is only playing 6, or 7 in a show. Why bother putting out a new cd and promoting it with a tour if you are only going to put a couple of the new songs in the setlist? I for one welcome the new songs. I love the cd and can't wait to here more of it live.
Phin :pirate:

Not that I am complaining at all.

Beach95 wrote:I have the bootleg from Camden from 2002 Far Side of the World tour and off the top of my head he plays:

Hokey Pokey
Far Side of the World
Savanah Fair You Well
Last Man Standing
Author Du Rocher (Sp)
USS Zydecoldsmobile (Sp)
Tonight I Just Need My Guitar
Blue Guitar

That makes 7 songs of a new album at the time with 12 tracks.

So 5 or 6 isn't unusual.
did anybody else count 8?

No complaints here. Love the new disc, so he can play all he wants. At last check, I've been to too many Buffett shows and I've yet to hear a song I didn't like. I like those percentages. What's 0 bad songs out of 1 jillion played. I'm not good at math. So glad he ended with Someone I Used to Love in Cincy, one of my personal favorites.

I'd help you out....but I'm not good at math either....in fact, my math sux....which reminds me there is one song I haven't really cared for!

Maybe I'm too easy, but I'm just there to listen to whatever Jimmy wants to play. "Escapism" is a release into the wonderful world of relaxation. If there's a better way to do it, let me know.

Unfortunately, the touring, one day, will come to an end. Until then (and even thereafter), i'll tip each corona that Son Of A Son Of A Sailor!

Good point. Too much analysis! Just sit back and enjoy the show!

If he ever plays anywhere near here again and he's not appearing with the Country Music Hall of Fame I can only hope he doesn't play anything off of LTC. Listened to it 3 times hoping it would grow on me but luckily I lost it.

Well I guess I'll have to find it and try again. I know there are a lot of parrotheads out there who dig it so I need to give it another go. But in the past some other JB works (BHOTM) took a while to grow on me, this one still hasn't.
