Not quite Tahiti but Still!!!! (U.K.)

Post by PirateQueenApril »

:o I am finally going across the big ocean and not on a cruise ship. I have the opportunity to go to Manchester, UK this fall.

I am trying to figure out what locations I want to visit on my free time or vacation around the business trip.

Scotland is very appealing, so is Ireland but it's across more water. Where have you been in the UK and what did you think about it?
I got a carribean soul I can barely control and I gotta go where it's WARM!

The Isle of White .... (or how you spell it) .... definitely the BEST place I saw in all of England/Ireland and Scotland!!

I would go to Ireland anytime. There's so much to do and see and the people actually like Americans! :D If you can make it over to Dingle (about as far west as you can get in Ireland) there is a pub that actually knows about Parrotheads and will play one of the half dozen CDs I left with them. They also have the best Mexican food in Ireland.

If you only make it as far as Dublin be sure to visit Grafton Street, Trinity College, the Custom's house, the Strand, take the Guinness and the Bailey's tours and that will keep you busy for a few days.

Edinburgh is a very cool little city. I spent 3 months there in college. The pubs are great. Go to the Last Drop, which is located across the street from the site of the gallows. People are friendly. I hope you're not on the Atkins diet, though, cuz you will eat more potatoes and drink more beer than you ever thought imaginable.

Thanks all! I got the trip confirmed today. I'm off for 10 days in early november! I don't think I can make it to the Isle of Man, or Ireland being as it's out on the ocean but I think I can get up to Scotland. I know I can get to Wales and London from where I'll be.

I simply cannot freaking wait. I have never been so excited to go on a non PH island inspired trip in my life. I adore learning about people and places and what better way to do it first hand.
