May I ask Why?

I'm hoping one of our moderators can answer this for me. Which of Jim's rules were broken to cause the locking of yesterday's "Thread Killers" thread? I'm not trying to start a fight here, I'm genuinely curious. I read each post, then I re-read Jims rules regarding what we can and cannot post, and I just don't see the infraction. It's become obvious in recent months that we need to either follow the forum rules or accept the consequences. That's why I am asking - for future reference - what rule(s) did we break on this one? Thank you in advance for any clarification you can offer.

Obviously Ringling PAID OFF one of the mods to kill it so he can be crowned:
CHAMPION THREAD KILLER

You may.
When users register at this site, they agree to the following:
"You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit."
The very title of the thread should explain why it was closed.
(Or, you can always blame it on Cuervo!)

Well, thank you for the response. I was hoping that "I felt like it" wasn't a valid reason, but at least now I know. Thanks again.

I see the Chicago and CIP threads were locked too...
Technically the CIP thread was still viable as we moved on to planning CIP WI for Fri 9/24, and Keokuk IA for next weekend. Hope it's ok if we start another.
And in the wake of the locked Chicago and Alpine threads, should there be a separate Post-Concert Gathering area to bask in the afterglow, sharing the memories, laughs, and pictures of the said event? Or should it be kept on the Pre-thread, and limited to a couple weeks to get it out of our systems?

No money changed hands... but like I said... I have killed more threads than cancer killed asbestos miners.

I'm sorry if I was unclear, Rednekk. It did not lock it b/c "I felt like it." Again, I refer you to the title of the thread. Basically, it's saying "let's start a thread just so we can see how long it takes to get killed." The question has been answered.

Actually if you re-read the original post. That was not what it was saying.

No, originally it started out as a "who here feels like as soon as they join a thread, it dies from their participation?" kinda thing.
Then.. it turned into a contest of who could be the last one to join it, thus demonstrating their killer skills.
or it got thread-jacked.

Right, but it says it was locked because of the original poster's title not because of subsequent discussion in the thread.

Actually 7, I was agreeing with you , and providing interp of the body disproving the contention about the title's purpose.

I think I'm getting a little confused on what is viable subjects to discuss. The 'Killer' thread was in the Off Topic Area. The participants were having fun and not verbally abusing each other or the mods.

I don't post a lot but that was an amusing thread to be part of.

Respectfully live2ski, I think we're trying to understand w/o p*** off those with names in green type.
