Island

Because living in this area... the lyrics often relate to my own feelings of "isolation" when my way of thinking is not widely accepted by many who have chosen to "settle" in life because they simply do not know any better or are too close minded to open themselves up to other possibilities

I tend to see something in the distance that others do not... it's that southern "small town" mentality that disturbs me so -- and I'm not an import to this area, I WAS born here... simply tend to see things a bit differently than most

"Island" because...well....let's see....
I guess it just specifically hits that part of me that feels alone sometimes. Not that that's a bad or sad thing, just really REALLY accurate. "Sometimes I feel that way too" is all.

Yep Auntie.... definately understand the "loneliness" part
Island was my self-pity song back in the winter, right after my wife left with our twin girls... going from a home of 4 to a house of 1 tends to hit hard and sometimes feeling sorry for myself (over losing my girls, not my wife) just made me feel better back then... thankfully, due to BN, PH's and road trips to concerts -- I'm fully recovered :D

Island, because as somebody said in the best buffett song thread, every line can be taken as a metaphor to our lives, especially the longing for something you just can't have

Back to the Island because that is my plan for the future.
And it is upbeat and I need that right now.

Album --- It's on Coconut Telegraph and Ballads

Starts off as...

Island, I see you in the distance
It seems that your existence
Is not unlike my own

Island, they say no man is like you
They say you stand alone
Sometimes I feel that way too
Is it the need for love?
Heart and soul accompaniment
That seems to make me different from you

Though I've tried to build bridges
But they all fell down
I've taken to the air on wings of silver
But always hit the ground

Island I see you in all of my dreams
But I'm a man with no means to reach your distant shore
Island I see you in the moonlight
Silhouettes of ships in the night
Just make me long that much more to be like you

sorry  pretty much typed the whole thing

Having spent alot of time at sea. There have been many times I've been gone for months at a time. You get to feeling lonely missing family and that song strikes a real cord some days...

Back to the Island because it is what I have stuck in my head as memory of the Fenway shows.

Christmas Island-
Because Christmas is also MY birthday, and I LOVE being someplace warm on my birthday.

But those other songs on the list are fantastic too.

What about Tin Cup Chalice???? I'd have to say that's my favorite "Island" song. I love Back to the Island but my favorites are actually written by JB. 8)
you can't lay on the beach and drink rum all day if you don't start in the morning 8)

Christmas Island, I gave birth to that CD (my daughter was born around Xmas). She came into this world to Buffett and is still singing it. At 2 1/2 she can sing One Particular Harbor and 5:00 Somewhere perfectly.....what a good keet we raised! (Tonight before bed she broke into Volcano, out of nowhere).

Anyhoo, that CD and song I will always love.
