Margaritaville in Myrtle Beach
Has anyone been to the Margaritaville in Myrtle Beach? We are heading down in November and we are going to go but thought I would check to see what others are thinking of it....

thanks for the input....we are going to be in town the weekend of Nov 11th, so I am looking forward to going and seeing the new Margaritaville and enjoying the sites.....I have not seen Jimmy since July 4th at Nissan, so going to Margaritaville in MB will help give me a little fix.....

We were down that way this past weekend, and went there Saturday night. The decorations are incredible...way over the top!! From the way some of the booths are set up like boats, to a replica of the Hemisphere Dancer on the ceiling. There are big screen TVs, JB stuff, the store, tiki gods, and the staff was nice. Great bar too
The negatives....
The guy on the stilts drove us crazy. I think we had the loudest guy. I'm not being a party pooper, I appreciate their enthusiasm, but they would yell the whole time. The drinks were WAY too expensive. 6 plus tax for a 6 oz margarita in a small clear plastic cup, beer was crazy too...The food wasn't that great. I had a cheeseburger that wasn't prepared very well and the fries had a 1/4 pound of salt on them.
Its a cool place to visit and maybe start out your night, but with all the places around Broadway that have better drink specials and things to do, I couldn't see hanging out there all night.
Not to ruin anybody's excitement....thats just what I experienced.

Does anyone know if Jimmy has played the myrtle beach location yet? It seems that I was hearing between sept 1'st and 10th for a long time and of course no show...hmmm...
Anyway my opinion of the Myrtle Beach location varies...I have been there three times now...twice in one day actually. The food is ok...again I'm not fond of the fries but that's just me. The waitstaff is great and the people are pretty nice.
I'm a little conflicted on the drinks as well...6$ for a 6 oz. plastic cup is a little of a rip off to me. Also know that SC Laws varies on the sale of alcohol. Most places use 1 airplane bottle for each drink...each indigrent. I've had some drinks at some places with as many as 3 or 4 different airplane bottles in one drink. I do know they serve the M'gritia's with the tequila on the side and you have to mix it in yourself. If you want a souviner then spend the extra 5$ for a hurricane glass or two and get three times the size of the drink.
As far as night life...I was there labor day weekend after 11pm or 12am. (I think after 11 it's open setting and the grill closes at 12) Broadway where the other clubs are was packed and it was a wait to get into most places...we hiked to M'ville and were in no problem. The live music was ok..pretty good for parrottheads...a cover band but by 12:30-1:00 there were several empty tables through out the place.
My advice on the atmosphere is not to expect anything and go in and be suprised...I had heard so much from here and other places and see so many pictures that It's different than what I expected.
Hope ya'll have fun on your trips!

I've never been to one of Buffett's Margaritaville restaurants but hope to some day (preferably Myrtle since it's closest) but are any of you honestly surprised at the prices? Myrtle Beach is a tourist trap I avoid (the beaches up the coast are much less crowded and there's less terrorists, er.., "tourists") but I do plan to visit there in the near future.

Those Eagles and Wings beachware stores have been popping up in my area for the last couple of years now, I just hope it doesn't turn into another Myrtle Beach.Sidew13 wrote:Myrtle Beach? I can't stand those stores for some reason, I don't know why but they just bug me, even though I buy stuff in them. I've been to Myrtle Beach twice, both over spring break, once in 8th grade once in 10th (i'm in 11th now), and I'm going back this spring break. I personally love Myrtle Beach... I stay at a hotel called the Crown Reef when I go there, it's very large and not in the middle of everything... I love it. Next year I'll be visiting margaritaville, and perhaps CIP since I hear one will be there soon.Jahfin wrote:Those Eagles and Wings beachware stores have been popping up in my area for the last couple of years now, I just hope it doesn't turn into another Myrtle Beach.Sidew13 wrote:Myrtle Beach? I was at MargVille Myrtle Beach this summer. The only problem I had with it, was that half of the building was a Margaritaville shop.
They had an awesome band from Champaign, IL that played Jimmy covers.
As said above it's a great place to start the night off, but wouldn't recommend staying there all night.
A great place to go is Crodile Rocks. It's a dueling piano bar. I went with 8 guys I graduated highschool with in 2001. We all agreed it was the best bar we have ever been too! Now coming from a 22 year old that doesn't sound like much but have bar hopped in: Tampa, Clearwater, Ft. Myers, Chicago, LA, Las Vegas, and Minneapolis. I put Crodile Rocks at the top of the list. It is located at Broadway at the Beach.
Have a great time, and also check out The Dogg House at 7th and Mitchell it says open until 4AM!

Been to the one in Key West a few times, but we dont bother going back anymore. This may sound petty, but not giving free refills on soft drinks is the ultimate in price gouging. Utterly ridiculous, so we go to more colorful and interesting places down there when we go.
Spending 24/7 in a Key West state of mind......
