You can save yourself a lot of typing by just telling folks you're an isolationist. :)

Oh great, go and f*ck up one of the few truly pristine states we have left.
So by using the word "refugees" that implies they are undesireable? As someone already mentioned, this country was founded by refugees. I heard Alaska had plenty of room too.
I meant anybody - American citizens or 3rd world refugees. All it takes is an influx of population to turn anywhere into a cesspool like NYC.

What about NC, Joe? Lots of room there too.

Our country has to keep our borders open to them.
I hate to sound heartless, but why is this our problem. As my esteemed colleague Mr. rednekk said, our first duty should be to take care of our own.

NYC is fine, it's been Disney-fied.

Not sure who "Joe" is but NC is not one of the least populated states however Montana is.

WHY?I SEE NO NEED FOR THEM TO BE HERE :-?
Funny that someone would argue to deny refugees access to a country founded by refugees.
WE HAD ROOM FOR THEM THEN,WE DO NOT NOW.
I'm with Tom 100% on this one. We can't feed, shelter, and employ the people we have here now, and as far as I'm concerned we need to take care of ourselves first. That's where our true duty should lie.
   That is a joke right???

Who's we? You? Me? Yep, you're right... we can't support a huge portion of our current needy population.

But if you knew more or realized the productivity demographic of immigrant and refugee populations you would know that they are more than taking care of themselves. Immigrant and refugee populations are more productive and self-sufficient than most other needy urban populations...because they know they need to work to stay here. They don't ask for hand-outs from our government because they don't understand the concept.

Ann, I'm not sure where you get this info from, but I'm on the frontline with regards to people looking for governemnt handouts, and you are dead wrong...at least in my area.

That's easily the most rediculous statement I've ever heard you say Tommy... and being that you say rediculous and narrow-minded things all the time, you've just set the bar higher for yourself.

I literally have dozens of friends that were not born in this country that came here because of horrific war conditions that work their asses off doing all kinds of labor that support the U.S. economy in very essential ways.

He supports Osma Bin Laden both philosophically and financially. They said it and he agreed.
Let's not forget that our own government once supported Bin Laden to a MUCH greater degree.

Also regarding Cat Stevens, an article he wrote in the Guardian in the weeks following 9/11 tells a very different story
Yusuf Islam on September 11
Silly me, I thought the Soviets were the target.

And it's Yusef......Cat be gone.

It could actually be argued that it starts with removing the military from certain places globally.
I AGREE,BUT IF THAT IS TO BE DONE THAN WE SHOULD REMOVE EVERYTHING FROM THOSE FOREIGN COUNTRIES,INCLUDING ALL THE FINANACIAL AID,THEIR ABILITY TO COME TO THIS COUNTRY FOR THEIR FREE SCHOOLING AND ALL THE OTHER THINGS THAT THE REST OF THE WORLD MANAGES TO LEECH OFF OF US.PUT THE MILITARY ON OUR BORDERS AND KEEP EVERYONE OUT AND OUR INTERESTS SAFE
Keep everyone out? Even from visiting?? We love to travel and would hate to see the same applied to us. Our trip to Ireland, all of our Caribbean vacations....???
Well, that's not what I mean... I LOVE LOVE LOVE vacation... but if Ireland (in thier interest) wanted to background check me before letting me in there... I'd have no problem with it....
And what became of sweet Melissa.... ??? Image
