Heather has 3 kids so she really wants to be the songwriter behind the scenes. She has an INCREDIBLE voice though, and the label is trying really hard to get her to record her own cd. She really just wants to stay home with the kids - can't blame her for that.
She has flown out to Nashville a few times to record demos, and it's just a matter of time until one of them gets recorded by someone really big.

I heard this song a while ago and was a fan of it. Sadly though, the St. Louis stations are horrible about picking up new songs. They don't usually play anything until it's in the top 25.
But why does Miranda Lambert look so familiar to me? Was she on a TV show or pop up in country music a few years before? I swear I've seen her somewhere else before.

She's been on Nashville Star before

That's It! It's been bugging me since I saw her. There's a duet of her and Buddy Jewel singing "Today I Started Loving You Again" on the internet.

The CD release date has been pushed back to March. Hopefully, the song will get the label support it needs and outperform their expectations.
Here's the announcement from her website;
www.mirandalambert.com
"Miranda's management and Sony executives announced last week that they would push back the release date of the album "Kerosene" until March, 2005(changing from January 25, 2005.)This decision was wisely made in an effort to elevate her single "Me and Charlie Talking" to a higher position on the Billboard Chart. The single has maintained it's place in the "30's" very well but management would like to give the song an opportunity to move into the 20's or even top 10 prior to the release of the album. The advantage would be that the release would draw more attention and gain her higher standing in the industry and elevate retail sales. While we are disappointed that the release will not take place in January, we are very secure in the fact that management is making the best move for the long term of her career. Miranda will continue to tour, build fans and push the single with radio across the US."

You know, it had to grow on me too. I think that's part of the reason it's hung up on the charts. The stations that do play it are playing it quite a bit, but there are only so many and they can only play it so much. A lot of the mainstream stations won't play anything that's not in the top 25, but you can't get there without airplay. It seems like a real Catch 22.
From the announcement, it sounds like the label is willing to spend the money to promote the single. Hopefully that will translate to airplay and it will make the breakthrough.
By the way, it is up to #5 on the Texas Music Charts this week;

I saw the video over the weekend... is the supporting cast all actors, or are any of them family or friends? (just curious - not often I know an "insider"!)

As far as I know the only people in the video are her band and the studio technicians.
Trey Fanjoy directed the video - she was also the director for Trip Around the Sun and she's worked with just about all of the major country artists. The video was shot in a studio called The Village in Los Angeles. From what I understand Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones have all recorded there. Part of Miranda's performance was shot in a sound booth built specifically for Stevie Nicks.
I like it because it shows her at the beginning of her career. I really like the beginning where she's checking out all the gold and platinum records that line the hall. I also like the emphasis on the live performance, because that sets her apart. Unlike a lot of other artists, she does play guitar and she does write her own songs.

This is the one you were telling me about in August. Congrats to your sis in law!

Thanks Rick!
Just so everyone knows, Miranda isn't my sister in law. My sister in law is Heather Little, who writes songs with Miranda. Heather wrote Me and Charlie Talking and gave it to Miranda, who made some changes with her dad. Heather still plays it the way she wrote it, which isn't much different.
Through her connection with Miranda, Heather landed a songwriting contract. She's recorded several demos and the label is promoting them to major artists in Nashville. She has some great songs and it's just a matter of time until one of them gets picked up by someone really big.
