Strange.Strange.Strange Co-Workers

I have been in my new job for a couple of months now- like the work but in my sea of cubicles, two people just freak me out. Most people have social qualities but these two are SOoooo bizarre that (hopefully) other PH's can empathize. One guy (married, no kids) is like talking to a computer. Harmless, yes, but he's like a stalker... when you look around you notice that he's looking at you. I don't even talk to him anymore - I do a complete snub. The other one is different... he procreated... which worries me for the next generation. With two kids you would think he is a 'normal' functioning person - right??! This guy has a story that ALWAYS tops anyone else’s, never laughs at anyone else’s humorous stories and dominates conversations by just butting in (which, BTW, using the first names of all the people in his life, of which WE should know// ie. "'Karen' made a sauce this weekend... 'Andy' went to baseball practice..."). I don't feel like it's me since many people have just rolled their eyes and shake their heads in understanding.

This Blog does not accurately reflect how TWISTED these two people are. :o :o :o

They are just a bunch of FREAKS!!!!

Can anyone relate??!!
:-?

Yup. I just started a new job, and am in the process of "breaking in" a whole new set of coworkers myself. Nice enough people, but a direct quote from one of them (when I said I listen to a lot of Jimmy Buffett): "Jimmy Buffett-he's dead isn't he?" :o

I guess I'm lucky.

I started a new job the day AFTER the Sunday Fenway show. I was sitting in my boss's office when one of the Senior VP's came in wearing a Parrot Hat! Seems as part of their award program they rented a luxury box at Fenway and raffled off pairs of tickets to 6 lucky employees.

When they found out I had gone to the show, I was instantly part of the "in" crowd. Needless to say I was happy to know I had "found me a home."

Where I work, I'm one of 3. The boss, the "other girl" and me, "the new girl". I've been there since July and I truley believe this is the place I'm holding until my lottery winnings come in. (Guess I should be playing then huh?)

I'm usually the weird one whereever I work, but at my current job, a girl named Katie gives me a run for my money.

Talk about weird. I work with a 38 year old man who is obsessesed with the Brady Bunch. Can tell you anything about the Brady Bunch that you would care to know. This guys favorite singer is Pat Boone. He can tell you the chart possition of any song, an any given date, from 1960 to the early 90's. Almost like Rain Man.

I have strange co-workers that give out plastic silverware and look at you like they expect it back :o  .

Most of the people I work near are men. Most of them are also software engineers and have degrees in things I can't even pronounce. The people that I actually work *with* are in other states or other buildings so I actually do most of my business over the phone or via e-mail. The guys on this floor mostly do software testing and database management.

The weirdest thing, though, is one man has a very booming voice that carries. His voice sounds EXACTLY like the narrator of America's Most Wanted. Every time he is on a conference call I feel like I should be watching out for criminals.

Strange is not necessarily a bad thing. The new first year associates started at the firm yesterday and one of them is my new officemate. He was a summer associate in 2003 and he played a few games for the firm's softball team. He's mostly been in training so far but we were just talking a little while ago and he said "You're the one who likes Buffett, right?"

Considering the audience Buffett attracts this is the last place I expected to read about someone finding other people strange.

He got it right. He told me he was disapointed he couldn't get to any shows over the summer because he was studying for the bar exam. When I was studying for the bar exam I took a night off to go see Buffett at Jones Beach.
