Hell, Mt Saint Helens is not even the biggest concern in Washington/Seattle area... Mt Rainier is due to blow sooner than later and it will completely bury the Kent valley. Scientists say it could be 10 times what Helens was. People that live at the base of Rainier in towns like Orting have a 5 minute window to get out once they know the mountain's gonna blow... which really isn't a window at all being that they would still never get out. It's pretty much a 5 minute warning that they're all gonna die.

Rainier would be a MAJOR event because of its proximity to population centers, but these mountains give off a lot of warnings for awhile before letting go. I visited St. Helens back in late '70's, and they were already monitoring the tremors that indicated an impending eruption. At Spirit Lake, they joked about having to a short break (hopefully in winter, they said) if smoke and lava were gonna be coming. They did a good job of bracing the region for an event, it just was 100 times more intense than they imagined. Eruptions and smoke and lava are one thing... having a 14,000 ft mountain explode is a whole other deal. I DO know where I'm a' gonna go!! :o

I live here and I ain't moving. Where I am (I live on high ground) would become an Island in a sea of mud. But it's my Island.

Auburn is directly in the path (it's just south of Kent) But I live up on the West hill. High enough to survive the mud flows. Doesn't guaranty survival mind you, but I could / should have something to come back to.
