Head- Sez who? You? Are you trying to tell me if the only tickets available to me are over priced, then I shouldn't go to the show? How about you stay home, and I'll go to the show. Real parrotheads go to the shows every chance they get no matter what! (30 years now) I'd much rather have the memories than the money! Each to his own, ya know? Thanks for the input anyways though. Scott,

I do agree with hph real Parrotheads don't sell there extra tickets for bookoos over the amount of the ticket . If I had extra I would sell it at face value and have done so.
I have also paid over from a scalper. I try to avoid that , but there have been cases where my drive and my need to see Buffett has caused me to pay the extra . I don't like it , but I have done it also .
Hippy has a good thing going and is trying to do the right thing . I agree with what she is doing. If someone believes in what they are doing ,don't tell them to wake up and get out of their dreamworld, hell encourage them and move on and if you don't like what they are doing just move on.

J.w.- Sorry, but I'm not going to encourage someone that's trying to keep me from going to the show. You are right about wasting time on this nonsense, and I have moved on over to the beach bar for a refreshment. A team drink for ALL you parrotheads out there! MR. Scott

hanks JW! Nice to know there are true PH's out there!

Reality begins with dreams and I am a dreamer of dreams.

Mr. Daley - tsk, tsk. There is no reason for your attitude. Parrot
Heads - True Parrot Heads don't attack each other in such a manner. But
since you started it - my apologies to all -
here you go:

My site does work. Could be I made a mistake. Can not all be perfect
like you claim to be. http://www.calypso.com/ufotts could be you should
try it again.

Dreamworld? I am dreaming that my co-founder and I have a non-profit
organization, established for one year now. I am dreaming that we work
closely with govenors as well as U.S. and State representatives. THEY
come to us for information. Oh wait - that must be a dream!!!!

We got Georgia to veto a bill that would have legalized scalping - Oh
wait - we were dreaming when we received the letter thanking us from
Governor Barnes.

Oh No - I'm dreaming again when I pulled the following statute from the
2000 Florida Statutes:
FLA 200 #817.36 Fraudulent Acts:
(2)(a) Whoever shall offer for sale or sell any ticket good for
admission to any sporting exhibition, athletic contest, theater, or any
exhibition where an admission price is charged and request or receive a
price in excess of $1 above the retail admission price charged therefor
by the original seller of said ticket shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of
the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

As far as charity work - I have my hands full of it. We have not
received one dime from any one for all of the work we have done at
UFOTTS, which is considerable. And as to my personal life with my four little girls that's none
of your busines.

Let me tell you friend it may not be today, it not be tomorrow, or even a
year from now but there will be a National Ban on Ticket Scalping Scum
buckets who take from hard working people like me, my partner, Head
Parrothead, Volcano Lady and the rest of us. When we do my friend you
owe me a drink! Corona with double lime please!!!

I think her main objective is too stop scalpers period . I know I didn't like paying the extra money and I imagine you didn't either . I would have loved to had a face value ticket and spend that extra money on that "Oh so good ,draft , flat, beer inside the theater and some watered down Margarita's !
I am off to the SandBar myself! Just trying to keep some peace!

If that's what you want to spend your money on, then go for it. I guess I'm not made of $ like you are. If I was I can tell you that I'd have season tickets to Jimmy, but I'm not and I don't.

The most $ I ever spent on a concert was Pink Floyd's last tour -- $100, but that was a package deal that included a $65 bus ride to and from the show.

You do what you feel you HAVE to do in order to take in a show. The most I've ever paid to see Jimmy (just for the ticket) is $35, but then I get in line early and maybe I get a little lucky too.
Spend all the $ you want...they'll print more.

btw...
that ticketmaster you went to that didn't have a lottery could get their dealership revoked. a friend of mine got caught doing that and was fired for it.

I will owe you nothing. I just drank YOUR Corona!
I will tell y'all again that if you are a Licensed and Bonded ticket agent in FL, you can LEGALLY sell a ticket for a profit. All I'm trying to do is clear up this disinformation about illegalities. In reality, you can't possibly stop EVERYONE from selling tickets at a profit. Keep dreamin'.... MR. Scott

If i'm not mistaken, Congressman Serrano from the Bronx has been trying to get a federal law passed that would make it illegal to sell a ticket for more than 10% the face value. and his penalties are pretty severe...$10,000 fine and jail time.

obviously, brokers would not exist if there was not a market.

and buffett is NOT innocent here. the LA times last year did an investigation into the Irvine Meadows (owned by SFX) and used Buffett as an example. Brokers have LICENCES to some of the best seats in the house. in fact, last year the link from Buffett's website to the Irvine Meadows was actually a link to a broker...who was offering the very best seats. this broker even offered blocks of 8 seats in the first couple of rows...even though there was a 6 ticket limit!!

Buffett, or at least his promoters, deal directly with brokers to make additional profit. but it's very shady...this way Buffett doesn't get the bad press associated with exorbitant ticket prices brokers charge yet he gets a cut of that money.

honestly, Ticketmaster is bad but the brokers are the worst. I don't mind paying the Ticketbastard charges as long as i have the same access to the best seats that everyone else has. i wish buffett would do what Springsteen did on his last tour...1st 17 rows of the floor you could get 2 max, and only over the phone, and the tickets were will-called and they led you right into the arena. cut out the scalpers and brokers altogether.

obviously the best solution: federal law. don't see that happening anytime soon though.

Hey Anon- Do you really advocate prison time for people that sell tickets? If you do, that's scary! Don't we have enough non-violent offenders in jail now? It was a free country last time I checked.

kay. Mr. Scott please send me the site on the "Licensed broker is legal in Florida" and I'll take everything back. A Broker is legal in Florida but still can not scalp. They must have a license and a permanent place of business.

Anon: That one was a sticky wicket. You all can see read those articles through UFOTTS - ULR above (the 2nd one not the first - made a Typo). Senator Branzo & Atkinson from New York (I think Atkinson - something like that) are both promoting the US bill as proposed and (Mr. Scott) posted at the UFOTTS site. This bill is gaining momentum and support as artists like Springstein & Price, Pearl Jam, David Matthews Band are all pushing for it. As well as several US and State reps from Michigan, GA, Missouri and a few others.

http://www.sfx.com who was responsible for the referred to links has now changed its ways. Ticket scalping - believe it or not - is legal in
California so what happened at Irvine Meadows was not illegal, just against most peoples morals. The seats that were sold were never revealed to JB. They are secret seats and they (Irvine Meadows) does this to all who rent their auditorium/facilities. If you go to sfx for tickets in a state that has a scalping law you get booted right to Ticketmaster.

Oh and in most states it is a misdemeanor, some even a felony. In Michigan it is proposed that if a person is caught scalping they are fined $5,000 plus the tickets, plus any and all money they made from scalping.

Well Mr. Scott as you drank my Corona I'll just have one of JW's. Pass the lime please!

Scott Daley, I have to put in my words on scalping. How bad do I want to see Buffett? Never bad enough to buy from a thief, legal or not. Anyone that would want to make profit from another's desperation is a ratbastard. Several yrs. ago I paid a "broker" $80 for the worse pavillion seats I've ever had and vowed never to do it again.
I never have probelms getting Buffett tickets, last year I had 10 extra for the 4 shows I went to! Because of my club connections and knowing how to work ticketmaster never a probelm. I sold all those tickets before the show at COST, the last two I took a loss because it was time to get in the show to my 17th row center stage seat.
I will never buy scalped tickets, I'd just as soon miss the show. Anyone that does just adds to the probelm.
BTW, I was OFFERED 2 tickets out of the blue a couple weeks ago to any show this year thru a club. I choose the Feb. 13th Dallas concert because my sis lives there and taking her to her first Buffett concert.
Try harder to do it the right way, enough crime out there. Don't help the baracudas feed on the parrotheads or anyone that wants to see a show of their choice.
My 2 cents, Jim

Jim- Go ahead and miss the show, that's your choice. Not a good one, if you're really a Jimmy Buffett fan. though. There is no problem as far as I can see 'cause I got to see the show. The problem is not being able to see the show. Yes, that could be a problem.
And to old hippy- You are still wrong in your assumptions about a brokers profit on a ticket in FL. Like I said, if you e-mail me, I will give you the number of a law enforcement officer in this area who can help straiten you out.Or if you want to do your own homework, call the Florida dept of proffesional regulation, and they can fill you in O.K.?

Mr. Scott-

Please don't say that if you're really a JB fan you won't miss the concert--no matter what the cost. It must be nice to have all that money to wave around--do you come by it legally? Just wondering, since you're such a proponent of ticket scalpers. All of us here on the web board work very hard for our money--the old fashioned way. We have families and all the other obligations that go along with life. You choose to buy tickets from scalpers, we choose not to. It's just our way of saying...ENOUGH! The fact that you have been a ParrotHead for 30 years and go to the concerts no matter what the cost does not make you any more or less of a ParrotHead than anyone else. So, please don't assume that it does. And, if you need to know what prayer has to do with anything...obviously you are able do it all by yourself. Good, if you truly believe that. As for the rest of us, we look to God, our families and our friends to sustain us and get us through the good and the bad times. A "true" ParrotHead respects the opinions of others. He/she may not agree, and quite often does not, but the key word is respect. And, you have not been respectful here by telling someone they are living in a dreamworld or to do something worthwhile with their time, such as a charity. You should get your own matters of the heart straight before you tell someone else how to live their life.

Have a great time at the concert...and remember, the ParrotHead sitting next to you, or behind you, or in front of you, probably paid face value for their ticket.

Note:

In the above, "us" was used generically and is not intended to be the opinion of anyone but myself. Just wanted to clarify that a bit.

Scott:
Okay, so you make sacrifices. Does your house have electricity, or has it been turned off?

Do you have a car, or do you walk everywhere you go?

I have never made more than $500 a week anyplace I've ever worked. I've had to make sacrifices in order to go to a Buffett show, but I've also had to make sacrifices in order to have heat in my house this cold winter, to put expensive gas in my truck every week, to put food in my stomach and so on.
I won't argue the legalities of scalping with you, but I will tell you that I've lost a ticket to a sold out show and managed to find someone selling at face value (did that on venue grounds in front of the ticket window). Last summer at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin I saw a guy wanting to buy a ticket from the girl who parked next to us. He wanted 2 lawn tickets -- she wanted $100 a piece.
Would you have bought them from her?

Got another question for you:
Have you seen the movie called "The Fan", with Robert DeNiro and Wesley Snipes? You are starting to remind me of the character that DeNiro played in that film.

I'm not going to question how big a "fan" you are; please don't suggest that I am not a parrothead just because I don't go to every single show in my area every year for 30 yrs. This is not a contest to see who the biggest parrothead is, who has been to the most shows, who knows the most trivia, who has traveled the farthest to see him perform, or who has paid the most for their tickets (time and time again).

All of that is like trying to say that you have more fun at the concerts than anyone else.

To PH- whatever.None of you buisness how I get my money.
To Head- I always wondered whose ticket that was that I found. I gave it away to another parrothead. I've paid a hundred apiece before, and if I have the money, I'll do it again! Can you all stop whining now, and stop the personal attacks against me? I wiil not apologize for having as much fun as I can in my lifetime. You only live once! All I wanted to do was inform people about the laws in FL. Jeeeez! All I got was grief(except J.W.) Thanks parrotheads for your input anyways though. It's getting kinda boring repeating myself, so would anyone like to get back to the original topic? Got anymore good ticket stories anyone?
