hph, if you can shoot six holes in your freezer with that Dr. Pepper out of your nose thing, now that would be something!
BWMBO & CS, geez, are we back to that respectable thing? No living with you people when you get like that.
Speaking of no living with people, looks like there's no reasoning with Mr. Scott, so why not herd the rest of us back to the sandbar for a magic bucke or three?

Ok... time for my two cents worth! I go way back to your comments about Jim Bright. I have seen him standing trying to get rid of a ticket to a show where someone had to cancel and was not trying to sell it for anything less that face value. This was at the same show, where he bought his tickets thru ticketmaster, where he paid for my ticket and also paid a portion of my airfare from Australia to see the show. This is a true parrothead - one phriend helping another.
I keep hearing about how america is the free world. Well, am afraid that there is something wrong big time in the ticket department. In australia, there are no legalised brokers that I know of (I could be wrong) but you pretty well get arrested if trying to sell tickets at a venue before a show. And if you do get in line out the front of ticketmaster - if you are first in line, you are rewarded of first in the door. None of these ridiculous lotteries that I hear about!
Don't get me wrong, I love the USA and enjoy visiting, but you have this WRONG, as I am sure there are things here that are wrong.
Mr Scott, I think you should just go ahead and buy your illegal tickets quietly if that is what you want to do.
I am not that interested in going to concerts anymore, have only been to two - one being here in Australia in 1987, what is most important is the friends that you make thru his music. I will be spending my money on visiting my friends over in the USA and if it happens there is a show on, I might consider going - but when you look at the BIG picture - is going to a concert for two hours that important if you are doing illegal things to obtain your ticket??? is the money not better spent elsewhere on a charitable cause????? (for the record, I do a lot of charity work)......
So my priorities are getting enough $$$ to get to meeting of the minds 2001, where my friends Jim, and jen and the old hippy and many many others will be. Where you can see stacks of buffett cover bands and not pay to get in, but have a blast of a time. And I could not give two hoots if buffett were there or not - I have seen him twice now, more than most Australian parrotheads get and I am grateful for that.

Hello A. J.- Thank you for not taking a bite out of me. But please let me clear this up again, I did not buy any illegal tickets, and I only bought them from a broker ONE time, and it was for a very good reason which I didn't want to get into. It's a personal & painful story that anybody really doesn't want to hear on this forum.
They use a lottery system here that I really can't complain about, because it cuts down on a lot of corruption. Not all, but some. Thank you for your interest- I am not an animal.

I sat, for some reason not too clear to me, and read this entire forum. Not that anyone asked, but that has never stopped me, I am going to add a few things I think some other people have tried to say. STOP.
Mr. Scott - bow out gracefully, your point was made - you will pay too much to see a good show. I think we have probably all had some exepience with scalpers. I understand what you are saying about it being bought through a separate ticket agency, not scalped. OK.
Old Hippy - it's good to believe in something and fight to pass that on. This was an easy soapbox.
Everyone had some good points, but this did get too personal and too nasty. Picking on grammer now? I am surprised. No pointing fingers.
Aussie Jennie has it right - the club is about making friend and enjoying ourselves with good people. Not the concerts (though, they are soooo much fun) and not the record sales. It's the common bond and the way of life that attracts great people.
And yes, Scottie, you are still a great person, just up on the defensive side.
If all of you got together, you would be friends - maybe not best friends, but I know you have a LOT in common.
Phins Up, and chill out. Enough.

I have to agree with KW Chiquita, this whole discussion has turned into name calling and pointing fingers.Everyone has raised valid points here as to why they would or would not/should or should not buy tickets from brokers or scalpers. Personally, I would not buy a ticket from a broker or a scalper, but that is my perogative and it does not mean that someone else does not have to.
I think what has bothered me the most about this discussion is the fact that one person makes a statement about something they are trying to do to help others..mainly stopping the scalping practices. Just because someone thinks it is a pipe dream or not worthy of their time does not give them the right to criticize someone else for trying. Why not just say "Good luck" and leave it at that?
Mr Scott, I am sure you had a very valid reason for buying tickets from a broker and I am not attacking you in any way.I don't think it makes you a bad person at all, but I do think that the subject strikes a nerve with some people like myself and they of course are going to get defensive.
I have always been proud to be called a Parrothead and the friends I have made will be there long after the concerts are over and the last CD is made. Maybe it is my own simple way of thinking, but going to a Buffett concert is just a bonus added on to the privelage I have had of being able to call the majority of these wonderful people my friends.
