Are you all forgetting the "Christmas Island" cover? Horrific.

I'm actually a big fan of the CILCA cover with the nautical compass. I like the whole display of the picture along with the script lettering. It fits into my vision of a lot of 70's era graphics - which is not necesarily a bad thing.

Generally, given the choice, I'd rather see a cover design without a photograph of the artist. That seems to lend itself better to more creativity and leaves a little something to the imagination. Therefore, I loathe the cover of BHOTM (which is similar to Christmas Island on the hoakines scale) and I don't care at all for License to Chill. As for FSOTW, I actually think it's not that bad - especially when compared to the original artwork showing Jimmy on a camel in turban wear.

But hey, that's just one guy's opinion!

Favorites, beside the aforementioned, would include Barometer Soup, Banana Wind and Havana Daydreamin'.

I must agree with you. Given what FSOTW could have looked like, the actual design wasn't that bad. I guess he didn't want to look Arabic so soon after 9/11.

Fool Button wrote:And my least favorite: probably Off To See The Lizard, but I've always thought the Far Side of the World album cover was lame (it shows that it was thrown together at the last minute)....one of my favorite albums, just not the album cover.

Whenever I see the cover for Far Side of the World I can't help but be reminded of the "brick wall" poses from the Hall of Doucebags section of the Rock n' Roll Confidential web site:

I always thought the cover of Hot Water was cool. I tried to get a picture of myself doing something similar when I was in Florida, but it just didn't happen. I also noticed that with the exception of the back cover of Banana Wind and the covers of his live CDs, Jimmy has worn a hat on his album covers. It was just like the 'stach went and the hairline was covered up, which is kinda weird considering his rarely wears a hat in concert.
