What is the connection here?

The review of the Tropicana Hotel in Frommer's Las Vegas 2004 contains a rather perplexing reference:

...Once known for its lavish tropical resort stylings, it's now more that a little worn around the edges...the tacky "Garden rooms" are stilll around and ought to be demolished ASAP... Rooms - well, think a clean 70's motel room, but a little bit nicer. Unless you're a Jimmy Buffet (sic) fan, you are better off staying in the Paradise tower, where the rooms are slightly bigger and much easier on the eyes...

What are they getting at?
That Buffett fans have an advanced sense of adventure, especially when it comes to lodging?

My interpretation is that they're saying Buffett fans are living in the past, and may not mind a step back in time to a room reminiscent of bad 70's decor.

Another spin on it may be that if you're a Buffett fan, and you'll be there Buffett weekend, you may only stop in the room once or twice for a shower or change of clothes, and don't really care what it looks like, which is my case. But I admit, seeing it in writing makes it hard to believe it's costing $200 per night!! :o Oh well, live and learn!

I've never stayed at the Tropicana but about 3 or 4 years ago I met a couple of Hawaiian Tropic girls there. The dresses they were wearing were so tight I was just amazed at the tensile strength of the fabric. :o

Frommer's is in need of a good proof-reader to go with their travelling writers?
