I just wondered if any kind soul out there might know if they have, (or intend to) release any of this years Live Shows on CD in the same way they did for Tikki time last year.

Can any one help ? I hope so.

(If theres a vote then put the May 2004 Sunrise on CD as thats the only one I got to see !!)

I was at that show. Great show!! I actually heard once that that was one of the shows that Mailboat was planning to release if they do release the shows, but Mailboat is like politics . . . you can't believe anything they say and they are never on time

Nothing planned until after the first of the year from Mailboat.

I hope so, because I'd like to know what kind of set lists and what kinda fun the shows were. I'd like to buy it, see what it's like. Unfortunately, I missed every Radio Marg show replay this year. Hope not to miss Las Vegas.

Doesn't that already indicate a change-I thought the original word was that the Atlanta show would be coming out about now.

Exactly. Mailboat said earlier several of the LTC shows would be released in the fall. There were varying accounts as to which shows would be released. The only constant was Fenway (a compilation of the 2 shows?).

The last word I have is that nothing - no CDs or DVDs - would be released until early '05. Now, as DsilCaribe points out, Mailboat is not known for its accuracy. As I've said before, 10 people could email them and ask the release schedule and we'd hear 10 different answers.

I'll keep you posted if I hear anything more definite. In the meantime, spend your money on the upcoming Beatles box set :-)

Actually, the fact that they constantly change their mind was exactly my point. And I really appreciate the update as they have not responded to my question about this.

I called Mailboat Records in late March before the summer tour started, and asked if there were any plans to release a live C.D. of either the Alpine or Chicago concerts from the 2003 TIKI TIME tour. The person I talked to said no, but emphatically PROMISED that one or the other WOULD be made from the L.T.C. tour, and would be released NO LATER THAN two months after the concert, meaning one for Alpine would have been out sometime in September, or a Chicago C.D. no later than October.

Anybody get theirs yet?

I can’t stand the way Mailboat puts release dates out there before their 100% sure. I’m not forbidding them to delay products, in most cases it needs to be done, but to keep tricking fans by posting dates? And it’s not like they only did it once and with one product. How many “fake” dates were we given for LTC? It’s the same thing with A Salty Piece of Land: I know someone brought up a theory a while back that perhaps Mailboat also has a hand in the publishing. I believe that 100%.

I can name so many things that are wrong with the ways JB’s material is poorly marketed:

 The 80s CDs that contain little or no art and notes and are NOT re-mastered.
 Back in the vinyl days when MCA bought ABC/Dunhill and cut down on packaging.
 The numerous Down to Earth/High Cumberland Jubilee material compilations. A pure mess and confusion on the shelves.
 The fact that Live by the Bay and Tales for Margaritavison are ONLY on VHS and NOT on DVD.
 Mailboat “tricking” fans with “fake” release dates AND “fake” releases many times over. (I thought there was going to be a release of Live in Tampa 04’? What happened Mailboat?).
 The seemingly endless delays of A Salty Piece of Land.

I know many PHs and Buffett fans see all the above as minor issues and can just shake it all off and forget it, but I fail to see how any of that is a small detail. The 80s CDs: I mean, HELLO, 12 albums were completely robbed of all images and documentation that was intended to be included. The DTE/HCJ compilations: How senseless is it to keep flooding the shelves with so many discs of the same material? Not only that, but it’s his lesser-known stuff! Live by the Bay and Tales, consider this: “Tales” was released at a time when DVD was already a popular format, and being a music video collection (which DVDs are perfect for) why the heck not? As Mailboat’s fake release dates, well that’s already been covered in this thread. It’s bad business to keep tricking fans.

Again, I really wish Jimmy would sit down with Howard Kaufman and talk about all this, but they probably don’t care as long as the dough keeps rolling in. But if numerous fans give them the word…

He was questioned on the Today Show earlier this year about the LTC delays, and that’s exactly the response he gave.

All very valid points but the reason there are so many version of the first two albums on the market is because it seems virtually anyone can issue them. The same thing plaques Bob Marley's early catalog, they must have been repackaged by hundreds of different labels by now and there will probably be more to come. As far as the Mailboat "fake" dates I don't think they're out to intentionally fool anyone, it's just the nature of dealing with an independent label. Hopefully they'll work out all these snafus sooner rather than later.

I knew the reason why there were so many DTE/HCJ compilations, it's also the same scenario with Van Morrison's Bang material. I just wish JB and HK would find a way to put that Celebrity Licensing deal to death so no more compilations are made.

BTW, Celebrity Licensing are the people who were given the rights to first two albums master recordings after Barnaby went under, for those who might not have known.

I know Mailboat isn’t out to fool anyone, but I just thought they would have learned by now not to put a release date out there until they’re 100% everything, in BOTH the production and marketing departments, will be said and done.

Just keep looking, and hopefully we'll see them on sale.
