Which type of steel would you like to hear more in Buffett's next album, or which to you just prefer in general?

Personally, Royal Doyal. But I am sure I'll be in the minority on this one!

I like the pans.
They sure sound great together, especially on "Sea Of Heartbreak".
Only Jimmy would mix them

I'm not sure I have a preference as I've always loved the mixture of the two, it's a big part of what makes Buffett music what it 'tis.

Gosh. I'm gonna have to go with Jah on this one. It's the mixture of the two that contribute to Jimmy's unique sound.

Calypso nuts played here at a house party for me and a few friends this summer...I loved them and their steel drums.

Drums can stand alone, especially on a tropical beach.
They give you the feel for the tropics and a cold boat drink. 8)

I like them both but I would have to lean a little bit towards the steel drum. I could listen to steel drum music all day. There is just something about the pans that makes me relax.

440 Surgical. Anything less means your blade won't hold an edge; and in the kitchen, that is important.

Pan

For those of you going to Vegas on the 22nd and 23rd and partying at the Key Largo:
I'm bringing my pan and will be playing an impromptu set sometime that weekend. Sometimes I just set up in my room and open the door, or I might find a place by the pool. Who knows. Just listen for the music and come on down.
Plus, Jerry Gontang is planning on having a local pan player sit in with him Saturday down by the pool.
Can you guess what vote is?

Hey Cous'
Why don't you bring your pan down and join Jer and me? I'm only going to be doing a few tunes on my pans (double seconds), the rest of the time I'll be playing percussion. The more the merrier! :D

Hey Blake
It's Tim from the steel drum board. Sorry I haven't written back. Just been busy. I will be there with my pan. I'm sure we can have some fun. I'm thinking stuff like "Three Little Birds" where I need someone to play the other part. Looking forward to a fun weekend. See you there.
