No self-respectin' southern bow head would ev-ah serve Miracle Whip to her guests. It was even a step down to serve Hellman's. Most of our mothers made their own mayonnaise.

And, you NEV-ah serve dark meat chicken to your guests. . . white meat only . . . fried, baked, stewed or in a chicken salad . . . it's tacky to do otherwise.

(Lord, please make sure my mama doesn't read this board. Thank you.)
Well put, ETP. But what do you do with all the dark meat?

We could afford room and board but that's about it. Hubby is a fantastic cook though so we certainly manage. I'm good for just about anything that is made with noodles. Other than that, cooking is not my strong point.

We always have both in the house. I do make a good egg salad and ALWAYS use mayo for that.

It's hard to find sweet tea out here, so usually I get it unsweet. I hate Sweet N Low and I refuse to add sugar to cold tea, so I just got used to it. I still order sweet tea whenever I can though.

I know I am a bit slow.....
But.......is this really what I think it is??

do you like your tea sweat or unsweet?(is that what it really says in the poll question at the top? Or am I having one of those flashbacks they warned me about??????) 8)

I changed my mind...I don't want sweat in my tea!!!!!

Before Easter or After Labor Day . . . . NO white shoes. Boy, did Fergie blow THAT rule outta the water when she came to Houston.

Feed it to your family, if you must, in stew or dumplings, but never to company!

In "those days," you had to purchase three chickens to get enough white meat for chicken salad.

I am simply fascinated by Southern mannerisms! :D :D My family grew up in Iowa and it was farm food. It was bacon, fried potatoes, fried chicken. All the bad :D stuff. But it was simply "grub".
