People from your past.....in the news

Post by buffettbride »

So...I regularly go to 9news.com which is a local news station here in Denver. I check throughout the day for weather, traffic, and news updates. But today it was kinda freaky! There's an article about I girl I knew in Jr. High!!!! I sat next to her in Earth Science. She was very popular and very pretty.

She didn't go to the same high school as me so I never knew what happened to her....

...but now I know :o :o :o

Here's the link to her story. There's also a video you can view in conjunction with the story.

Actually, once when Matt and I were first dating we were watching the news. A police officer had been arrested for brutality. It was the guy that took me to my freshman homecoming.

Yep. Guy that was a good friend in highschool married this girl in our class. They had two children. She disappeared one night after they argued. He admitted that happened. Found her 3 years later, dead. Could not find any physical evidence linking him to the murder (or so they have ruled it), no markings on the remains (what there were) as to the cause of death but somehow a jury (of his peers, yea right) convicted him of the crime. He is in jail for life.

When I go home to my parents house, I always scan the local paper to see if I recognize any names in the arrests. I've seen a couple I know get busted for meth... and one dude that used to live down the road from me that I used to hang with was getting front page headlines for escaping from police officers and being on the run for a few months. They ended up finding him wandering the streets of this tiny town at 3am stoned out of his mind.

Sounds like what I used to do Ann. When I went back to my hometown on a regular basis I always checked out who got married and who got busted. It's nice to go there now and basically don't know either

Ick! The people getting married really scare me! And the people they are getting married to scare me! And that they might eventually reproduce really scares me!! Thus the reason I will never move home to live amongst them and their offspring! :x

Quite a story! I got teary watching the video too.

Aside from the guy I nominated in high school for
Junior Girls Club sweetheart now being the Duval
County Tax Collector, I don't think I know of many
people from my distant past being "noteworthy".
(I still refuse to make checks out to the agency with
his name. It's just too weird. Nice guy, though!)

I also had a friend who was a deputy sheriff go to jail for 10 counts of robbery. Another friend who went to jail for attempted murder.

How I avoided jail is still a miracle. Of course my offenses were only misdemeanor craziness

I have a few former teammates of mine in various professional sports.

Baseball, football, and even Mtn Bike Racing.

That is about all I can think of.
