Theresa Heinz-Kerry

Post by gcraft »

Heiress Teresa Heinz Kerry, 66, told the USA Today newspaper: "I don't know that she's ever had a real job."

Mrs Bush has previously worked as both a teacher and a librarian.

The aspiring First Lady, who inherited the $500m Heinz fortune, later said she had "forgotten" about Mrs Bush's "important" careers.

In her interview, Mrs Heinz Kerry said: "I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good.

"But I don't know that she's ever had a real job, I mean, since she's been grown up."

But Mrs Bush, 57, is well known among voters for her previous jobs, and is often referred to as "The Librarian".

This is the woman who wants to be the 1st lady? Gimme a break! That's the way to get women voters to your side, talk bad about women who stay at home with a family. This woman has no clue.

I've got an idea. I'll vote for John Kerry for President, but Laura Bush for First Lady!!!!!!!

First Lady is a useless title. Why does anyone care.

Need proof? Hiliary Clinton was first lady.

Not to mention that she has been wearing the pants and controlling the pocketbook in the relationship for ever...she has more control over him than I'd like to even think about!

I think it'd be in the best interest of the Kerry campaign to lock her away in a Heinz warehouse somewhere until the election is over. Her mouth is a loose cannon.

In the meantime for the next two weeks, if they need a public appearance for her, they could hire Dustin Hoffman to dress up as Tootsie for a while. Just no interviews...lol

She has apologized and stated that she had forgotten that Mrs. Bush had worked in the schools. She also admitted that she had made a mistake. From my perspective the fact that she forgot is somewhat amazing yet she had enough class to apologize and admit her error. Wouldn't it be nice if other public figures learned to do the same?

what would have been nice is if she didnt feel the need to insult her in the first place.

Well said. Laura Bush even said Heinz' apology wasn't necessary. But it still came off like an "only because I have to" kind of apology.

This may help shed some light on her:
Name at birth: Maria Teresa Thierstein Simoes-Ferreira
Teresa Heinz Kerry is the wife of Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts and the former wife of the late Senator John Heinz of Pennsylvania. Heinz Kerry was born in Mozambique, the daughter of a Portuguese medical doctor. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, and later attended the University of Geneva. In 1966 she married Henry John Heinz III (known as John), a member of the Heinz ketchup and condiment family. A Republican, he was elected U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania in 1976, and remained in that post until he was killed in a plane crash in 1991. As his widow, Teresa Heinz has since overseen the Heinz family's charitable endowments, in which role she has particularly supported environmental causes in America and internationally. She first met Kerry in 1990 (at an Earth Day rally, according to her official bio) and they were reintroduced the year after John Heinz's death. The pair married in 1995. She was thrust into the spotlight in 2004, when John Kerry won the Democratic nomination for president and began his campaign against the Republican incumbent, George W. Bush
