It has a bar but it is actually an indoor water park resort in Gurnee owned by the man behind Famous Daves BBQ.

The bar is called the Crazy Toucan.

Unfortunately the hotel is fully booked on New Years :( :( :(
(At least according to the website... it's entirely possible that the website is not working correctly ....)

I think the problem is that they don't really have it set up correctly... I've noticed quite a few problems with the website (certain pages are missing entirely).... your best bet is to call..

Johnny about what time does the show in DG start? Maybe I'll see you there :)

They don't have any 'packages' advertised. You have to call....
I just booked it...typical (inflated) holiday rates, $349. But, considering I usually don't even stay up til midnight, this will be a small thrill... [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

Anything to make H2 happy!

The odds of being selected as H2 . . . is that a lottery or predetermined?

5th Anniversary of Cheeseburger In Paradise, Downers Grove, IL
Five years ago, we helped Cheeseburger In Paradise open up their Downers Grove, IL location to help benefit the Good Samaritan Hospital together with Jimmy Buffett. I can still remember all the fun the anxiety and nervousness we all felt that day. The the fundraiser went better than expected, and fun was had by all that night.

Now, five years later, we are still able to celebrate that day. Come join us together with Cheeseburger In Paradise, Downers Grove, IL on Saturday, November 29, 2008 @ 10:00PM to celebrate their 5th anniversary. They are currently making efforts to help benefit VH1's Save The Music Foundation. $2 Landshark Bottles will be available, so be there early to snag a seat!!!

Johnny and I actually saw Peter's show with both Balcony Girls last December! :D :D :D :D (It was a nice time, and I'd almost forgotten the memories of the snow/ice storm, the hellacious trip to pick up Boop at Midway Airport, and then packing in Johnny's vehicle like sardines, in 2 layers, to and from the show! :o :o  )

I don't think Johnny will make it this time around, but thought I'd throw it out there for peeps planning to go to CIP.

This would make the 4th time I've seen Peter's Stars and Promises show... I find it to be a very spiritually uplifting experience, and highly recommend it.

Peter's always taken an intermission, so even if you want to get to CIP early, you could catch the first half of Peter, for just the cost of a free will offering, then zip on over to CIP. Or stay for the whole show, and you won't be very late to the BBB, if at all.

:D :D

We sure did!!! :D :D :D Thanks for thinking about us everyone! :)

I'll never invite the balcony girls to Chicago in December to see Peter again, but that's ok cuz they said they wouldn't come anyway!!

Cindi got in Friday... sun was shining so the 30 degrees didn't seem too bad. She kept commenting how she likes the midwest in the winter, it was nice, the cold air was refreshing! :o  Friday was all good!

We left my area around 11:00a to pick up Boop on Saturday, due in at 12:30p... normally about an hourish drive, but left a bit early due to the forecast. The icy snow started pretty good around noon... the roads were just terrible down that way... no sign of plows or salt trucks... accidents had traffic to a smidge faster than stopped... barely pressing the gas pedal would spin my tires and slide me sideways...

BUT, Boop landed about 12:40p, and we made it to the airport about 4p, to our hotel about 4:45p, took a taxi to Cheeseburger in Paradise about 5:30p (the plan was to be there at 4p, after my girls swam in the hotel pool for a few hours), enjoyed dinner and drinks to take my edge off, and we piled into Johnny's (Russler of the Beach Bum Band) SUV to the church! THANK YOU JOHNNY!!! There were 7 of us in 5 seats, but we made it there and back, safe and sound! :D Parked cars had an inch of ice caked on them, the ground was a sheet of ice, and the trees were all crystallized! Cindi left 80 degree Tampa for this! :o

The show was well worth it though!! Peter sounded great, his band members are phenomenal musicians... R Scott Bryan on drums/percussion, Marc Holland on the flutes, and Marc Torlina on the bass were in the band 2 years ago when I saw them when it didn't snow, and it was the first I'd seen Chris Walters on piano and keyboards, and Maggie Estes on violin and mandolin. All simply amazing, and some really GREAT different arrangements to the songs.

Stars and Promises, the songs as well as Peter's words in between them, really touches your soul and your spirit.

I don't know if they do it at all of the shows, but they had 50 recordings of the show available to purchase right afterwards, with a portion of the proceeds going to charity. There was another surprise as well, that I 1st heard of when I read the program, so I might share that in another thread.

Peter and the band must have help from above to make it from midwestern/northern city to city every winter. God Bless them all for bringing this gift to us!

Happy Weekend everyone! Can you believe that is supposed to be the last full band Beach Bum Band show at CIP? CIP has an entertainment budget cut.

Well, it was a good time so thanks to everyone who made it. Hopefully you can come down to Tinley Park for the CD release party. 8) YES... I really have it.
