gcraft wrote:Let me ask any of you who have children this. Would you get upset if someone said your kid would end up in a orange jumpsuit or not have a good job like saying "you want fries with that"? All of this happened because I disagreed with RednekkPH on the public school system! I am home-schooling my child and RednekkPH makes fun of my child! How dare he! I get mad and cuss, so what? It seems to me that most of you think I'm crazy for doing so! Well, when it comes to my child, I'm very protective, and want the best for them, and I'm not going to let some stupid, moronic idiot badmouth my child or my plans for my child!! He can disagree with me on home-schooling, but I'll be damn if he is going to badmouth my child again, and I think I deserve an apology, or actually my child does! If this is the typical action of parrotheads, then I sure don't want to be a parrothead anymore!
I think you need to let this drop. Your last thread got mostly deleted, but there was some good advice in there.

Take a big deep breath. Let it out. Take another. Let it out.

Repeat as needed.

I'm with Ringling - just chill out - you're taking it too seriously.

Sorry gcraft, you don't get to dictate who can and can't post on a thread. I don't have kids, but I have been a teacher for 17 years, worked with kids most of my life. The "you're not a parent so you don't get it" mentality doesn't sit too well with me.

And I am a moderator so I WILL be watching this closely. I chose not to post on the other thread because I am a mod, but I have serious issues with what was said.

EVERYONE: play nice...please. Let's not attack each other...we're better people than that. Remember, it's the message, not the messenger.

A good rule of thumb? Think twice, post once. Let's keep this civil.

No - I don't understand - and I the moderator is doing just as they ought to do - moderate the over the top attitude you are using to those whose opinions differ from yours - remember Voltaire (I think that's who I mean!)!

gcraft - you have EVERY right to defend your child and I applaud you on that fact..........HOWEVER........as a parent of a child yelling MF on a public board that can be viewed by children let alone it being against the rules of this board and attacking moderators who are volunteers just trying to have fun as well - is out of line too.

No, you don't. But if you don't want to deal with smarta$$es, then perhaps hanging with Parrotheads isn't something you want to do.

I find that I'm quite interested in this home schooling thing. Exactly, how does this work? How many hours of the day does the child spend in class, so to speak? Who does the actual teaching? What subjects are being covered? How long with the child be doing this?

It's all quite fascinating...

Don't know how it works there - but we did it with our son for 5 years and he coped really well when he went away to boarding school. So did the others who were doing it in our area. If you' really interested - I can tell you more :D :D
It was structured and the children did have contact with other children via radio and at camps.

Do yourself a favor dude and look at any thread I've ever posted in. You'll be hard pressed to find one where someone didn't take a shot at me or make a joke at my expense. And yet, here I am with 8000+ posts. Why on earth would I want to hang out with these people who insult me so?!?!? BECAUSE I'VE GOT A SENSE OF HUMOR!!!! And I joke back with them or if there is a serious topic that people disagree with me on, I debate it in a joking light-hearted kinda way! Perhaps you should do the same...

But, what do I know. I don't have kids so apparently that makes me a moron and unintitled to an opinion on this.

Apparently having kids causes a sense of humour bypass in some people - glad my friends haven't the same problem!!!
