[Serious] Missing 16 year old girl in Idaho

Hello phello parrotheads. I need a little help here.

A member of another phorum I hang out in has posted a plea to try and find his missing 16 year old daughter. She's been missing since Oct 19, 2004. They set up a website on geocities, but knowing their bandwidth limitations, the site is sometimes not available. I have mirrored the site on my server as a backup.

Original Site

My mirror site

I don't know if the boy she was seen with is her boyfriend or just a friend. It is not known if they ran away or may have been abducted.

Also, I don't know the member personally; I'm just trying to help as much as I can. As I get more information, I'll post it here.

Thanks!!!

Hoping for a timely, happy outcome here. This has got to be one of the worst things to happen to a parent.

Damn, I hate to hear about such things. The other day in Walmart, I helped a little boy find his mother after they got separated. They were only apart for a few minutes, but the mother was frantic - I can only imagine what it must be like for a kid to be missing for days or even longer.

Here's to a happy ending...

Yeah, he was wondering around looking for his mom. I asked if he was lost and when he said yes, I took him immediately to the first employee I saw. They handled the situation wonderfully, and it was over in a matter of minutes. It was a bit scary for the few seconds that I was with him trying to find an employee...how could I prove that I was trying to help, and not abduct the kid if somebody asked?

I know what you mean, I'm almost afraid to help people these days but I couldn't not help a kid who was seperated from his mom

Oh, it was never a question of should I help, rather a question of what do I do if Mommy comes running up screaming about where I'm taking her son. 99.9% of the times the parent would just thank you and hug their child, but that .01% could really ruin your life.

Thanks for all your support! I knew I could count on the People Our Parents Warned Us About....

Some additional info: It appears to be a runaway situation. Also, the boy she's with turns 18 this Sunday, which makes it an abduction. She needs her medications, which her father believes the boy won't be able to provide.

I will keep you informed as I find out any more info.

Phins up (and crossed)...

Being a parent I know what I'd be like if my child were to go missing. I'd have to be heavily sedated that's for sure. I know her poor parents are grief stricken!!! I pray for a positive outcome.

We hope and pray God is watching over her & that this is just a "teen age" thing or phase and not something of a bad nature........ We hope to hear of a happy outcome........ Have faith and know there are alot of people who are parents here and wish only the best for them........ Phin Power is out to the family from Long Island......... (I wish we did not have to deal with so much heart ache lately, but support is here.......)

Just found out that the car they're in belong to the boy's mother and she has not reported it stolen.

Seems the boy's mother does not even care about these kids to report the stolen car, if in fact it was stolen.

I wonder if the boy likes her (or loves her) enough to realize what he's risking here.

Also begs the question: with gas prices as high as they are, I wonder how far a couple runaway teens can get with whatever money they may have...

That is a good sign................... Not a runaway nor kidnapped it seems...... Before my wife & I were married we once ran away when we were 18 years old......... As long as she is safe is the biggest issue......

That's the thing. She may not be safe, medically speaking. Her father says she needs proper monitoring and medication. Suddenly stopping the meds can cause her to have seizures.

They have called the boy's cousin, asking for money (the cousin did not send any money). They apparently said they were in Utah, but did not say what city. Caller ID was blocked, but they may be able to get a trace of the call (don't know for sure).

The cousin waited 24 hours to say that they called because his mother did not want him to get involved. Go figure...

Melissa's Father wrote:We've driven around town, called her friends, etc. I talk to the boy's mother at least once a day. My ex-wife, Melissa's mother, is the regional coordinator for the Amber Alert Program. Amber Alert is for abductions, not runaways. Melissa is listed with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Warrants are out for both kids, and an Attempt To Locate is out on the car. I have spoken with the County Prosecutor and he advised me that if they're still gone on Sunday, the 31st, the case will then be treated as an abduction, since Mikey turns 18. We have covered every possible base locally. My posting in the forums is an attempt to get the word out regionally, or even nationally, as we believe they have left the area. It is working...our web site has received over 1000 hits in less than 24 hours!! Thanks for everyone's help.
