I just got back from Kenmore Square. I have not seen the news clips but from what I saw I am very very happy that Sox fans did not make any violent incidents. No one that I saw got out of control. It was just thousands of extatic Sox fans just having fun.
Kenmore Square itself was just jam packed for like an hour and that was ok. But I think the best part was walking down Comm. Ave... and then up Mass. Ave... and then around Boylston St...and all around the streets of Boston. Every street was packed with cars overflowing with loud people. Sidewalks were packed with screaming fans. And what would a World Series be without countless streakers running naked down every damn main street of the city. It honestly looked like an extreme Mardi Gras in the middle of Boston. As I walked back to my house over the Mass. Ave bridge I stopped about half way across the bridge at the half way Smoot mark and looked back at the city. From the middle of the Mass Ave birdge you could see firecrackers exploding, smoke in the air, screams echoeing through the air and an overall festival atmosphere engulfing the city.
It truly was an amazing moment in my life and the history of the city. The Red Sox mean so much to fans like me and so many others including many of the people on this board. It is absolutly amazing to experience a moment like this.
Damn it feels great to be living in
next year.

Congratulations to all the Red Sox fans. I hope you don't have to wait another 86 years for the next one.

http://www.boston.com headline:
AT LAST!
Pigs can fly, hell is frozen, the slipper finally fits,
and Impossible Dreams really can come true.
The Red Sox have won the World Series

And now it's time to toast to Ted Williams, Tom Yawkey, Sherm Feller, Dick O'Connell, Haywood Sullivan, Joe Cronin, Eddie Collins, Tony Conigliaro, Ned Martin, Helen Robinson, Jack Rogers, and thousands of others who toiled for the team, but died before seeing their Sox win a World Series.
It's time for smiles on the faces of Carl Yastrzemski, Bobby Doerr, Dominic DiMaggio, Charlie Wagner, Gene Conley, Bill Monbouquette, Chuck Schilling, John McNamara, Joe Morgan, Earl Wilson, Mike Andrews, Reggie Smith, and hundreds of other men who wore the Red Sox uniform, but never won in October. And don't forget Curt Gowdy, Lou Gorman, Dick Bresciani, Joe Mooney, and all the ushers and Sox employees who are as much a part of Fenway Park as the Green Monster and Pesky's Pole.
Time for the Nation to rejoice. Time to dance. Time to go to your window, open it wide, stick your head out and scream, "The Red Sox won the World Series." No one's been able to do that in Boston since Woodrow Wilson was president.

It was awesome!!! I am still in shock and disbelief!
We went to my parents house to watch with my dad....he held on to the bottle of champagne throughout the game...the one that has been sitting on the mantle since '86...when it was all over there were tears of joy that I have not seen on his face since my first child was born!
We all went outside after the game and popped that cork...champagne showers for everyone!!

thank you thank you thank you
until the final outI was never sure
when they were down 3-0 to the yanks my 10 year old daughter said "don't worry dad, they still have a chance" just like dumb and dumber
such a great ride i made sure i took pictures of the family after the last out such a different feeling than the Pats, it has been a long road, from sitting in the wooden bleachers in 1969 for my 7th birthday to sitting in the stands for a number of games this year, and being on the feild for the shows this year, touching the wall, the infield clay my 9 and 10 year olds picked up when they ran the bases for kids opening day, the same clay they rubbed on their matinez and ortiz shirts for good luck
i hope all of you experience the satisfaction The Nation now feels
I still hate the Yankees, just not as much

Kitty I hear you on the shock and disbelief....I kept turning the tv on to make sure I hadn't dreamed it
I want to tell you that what makes me really happy about this, is for people like your dad, who have waited so long, but never gave up hope. It's people like him that brought that fan instinct in us. Neither of my parents were into sports, so I didnt become a fan till I was a teen and started dating....but trust me, BFC has been into it sinse she's been old enough to prop up in her lil chair to watch them. It was awesome to see the look on her face last night.....(we did let the lil pirate stay up with us to celebrate

)
Im glad your dad finally got to pop that bottle of champagne!!!!!!

hey,i didnt want them to win but they did.and most of my friends are sox fans and i'm happy for them.
the only good thing i can get out of this is maybe with the patriots and sox being world champs the bruins might feel pressure to actually put a decent team on the ice with a shot at winning the cup.if hockey ever starts up again

one last thing before I go to bed. It's sort of a strange feeling today in the city, almost like everybody here won the lottery. People are holding doors open for other people, greeting strangers on the street etc... it's very pleasant considering us Bostonians are usually a bunch of cynical
A-Holes

I guess that's what a World Championship does to some people! Good night.
