2 reasons on the Beehives
1 no sugar in the pioneer times bees were kept for the honey by the
Mormons.
also
2 for the hardworking nature of the bees building hives and making honey at the same time.

I so agree that TENNESSEE should have been ORANGE!!! I couldn't believe it when I saw brown. I think the peep at Crayola need to do some more research on what colors belong with what state! Geeshhhh!!!!
