Tipping.

Does anyone know if it is appropriate to tip airline flight attendants? I'm not thinking about coffee tea or coke, but rather if they serve you one of the new cocktails some airlines are featuring. In my mind you should because they are acting as your bartender and mixing your drink for you at your seat.

I tip for alcohol, but not soft drinks. Also, if the service is really good I always fill out a comment card.

Ditto....I worked for Hilton for a long time and those comment cards really do make a difference...Good ones AND Negative ones....
They appreciate knowing what to do to help make your visit/stay/trip, better......

Tell me about it. I filled out a positive comment card on the Hilton Cairns. The manager of the hotel sent me a thank you e-mail. Below his message, you could see a note from the corporate office congratulating him and his staff.

At my current hotel, the comment cards aren't given much attention in my opinion by the higherups (I'm a manager but the execs see teh cards) unfortunately...Howvever I do always tip if i get an alocholic drink on a palne..

At any property that flies the Hilton Flag? (Hampton, Hampton Inn and Suites, Embassy Suites, Hilton, Doubletree, Hilton Garden Inn, etc...) we HAD to keep each and every comment card and forward them to Memphis office...That , along with the QA inspections, is a large part of how they judge the rankings in the nation....AND bonuses! :D

As a general rule of thumb, I always tip for booze... Unless the person serving me is a retard. Nothin' worse than a bad bartender.

employee of the month... to his sups face

and had to have a friend who is a GM in the same chain call
to make sure the Guy was recognized

the sup never put the paperwork in

OH yes I filled out a card on him and sent that one to his RM  :pirate:

If tips arent part of their wages they get nothing from me. I dont get tips for the work I do.

Ummm.... That's kind of a catch 22, isn't it? It's only a part of their wage if you tip them in the first place... :-?

I tip 20%, in cash, as a rule. If you put it on your card, then it's more than likely they will have to pay taxes on it. As for bartenders, heck yeah I tip and well ... insures surprises! :D

Never really thought about it for airline servers . . .

In the Milwaukee area, most waitstaff only makes $2.33/hour. So the tips are their income. This is pretty common. Bartenders will make a higher hourly rate, but it's still usually only $5.00. Tips are an expected part of the job.
