I think peace should be illegal.

Peace is just wrong.
Even between two consenting adults??

Respectfully, I don't believe he lied. He may have said things that many people did not agree with and/or did not want to hear.
Assume I give you the benefit of the doubt on Iraq... which is tough considering that there was a vocal majority that didn't agree with what the president said at the time - hard to claim you're mislead when a good portion of the world is telling you at the time that you're wrong.
But, in just one example, I watched him say that John Kerry would entrust the defense our country to foreign governments. That was a lie.
I watched him say that Kerry would be "sensitive to terrorists." That was a lie.
Those were just during the campaign.... but there were numerous instances where what he said wasn't true.
Maybe most folks don't care or think it's okay... I'm not sure.
Good thing Kerry told the truth all the time.

Why can't we all realize that all candidates are prone to telling lies. It's not a new concept to the American Governement.

This is what I take issue with too. Who on this earth has the power and responsiblilty to judge someone's moral issues??
There seem to be a lot of those people around lately who want to decide moral issues for all, especially in 11 states.
It is called democracy.
Then, why is there so little tolerance for differing opinions?
Because conservatives have the only "correct" opinion.

I'm with ya BHC, just don't have time right now to read the entire thread and respond

Kerry: Middle Class "Tax Burden" Kerry accuses Bush of imposing a "bigger share of America's tax burden" on the middle class, when in fact Bush's tax cuts reduced the size of the burden at every income level. Upper-income taxpayers got more relief than those in the middle, but the most affluent 20 percent still pay nearly 64 percent of all federal taxes, including income, payroll and excise taxes.
Kerry: Cheney & Halliburton Kerry falsely implied Cheney has a financial interest in Halliburton and is profiting from the company's contracts in Iraq. The fact is, Cheney doesn't gain a penny from Halliburton's contracts, and almost certainly won't lose even if Halliburton goes bankrupt. The ad also falsely stated that Cheney got $2 million from Halliburton after becoming Vice President, when in fact all the money was deferred compensation earned in 1999, and most of it was paid just before Cheney was sworn in.

Seriously Troy - that doesn't answer my question. I'm not trying to debate anyone here - I'm genuinely curious about the discrepancy between my perception of Bush as an unprinicpled, dishonest person and apparently the majority's opinion to the contrary...

Does that not strike you as a bribe? That quote proves that Cheney was bought and paid for by Halliburton. I wish my old job would give me "deferred compensation" right before I took a new job.

Lee- it's not that we don't care. It's that we don't have the degree of cynicism that you do. I believe he jumped prematurely on sketchy intelligence that he and his advisors believed was legitimate and credible. He was wrong. But I still find a lot of merit and international value in ending Saddam Hussein's reign in Iraq.
And with regard to his statements about Kerry and how he would lead this country... yes, most of it was a bunch of campaign baloney, none of which that was all that different than all of Kerry's campaign baloney.
I still believe that President Bush would be the fiercer leader in the face of international terrorism. I believe his economic policies are better in stimulating the economy and that his administration was not responsible for it going into the tank... that was due to the terrorist attacks, plain and simple. And, as you know, I am partial to the issue of healthcare reform and medical liability reform. I believe the Bush administration addresses both of those issues more appropriately and realistically... whereas the Kerry campaign ignored medical liability reform altogether.
I care very much about similar issues that you do. I know I would feel the same kind of exasperation if Kerry/Edwards were to have been elected.

But, more than anything... those that chose to vote for the President are not all foolish... our values and conscience told us that John Kerry was not the best alternative.

If you had negotiated deferred compensation into your employment contract, you could've collected it at the time that you and your employer agreed upon.
