That's an annual premium.
That comes out to $11,666.66 a month! Damn.
Imagine a six surgeon practive that pays $72,000 a month in malpractice insurance but only grosses around $300,000 in charges. But then only collects around 30% of that from third party payers, around $90,000. With the difference how are they supposed to pay their staff, let alone themselves?

(btw... those are realistic numbers) :-?

:lol: :lol: :lol: That $140,000 is paid every year!!! And it increases every year... so surgeons might be paying over $150,000 next year. (Not included a 300,000 tail if they move practices to cover the statute of limitaitons on lawsuits that might be filed against them within three years)
Dude! You live in southern Illinois! You don't have a single neurosurgeon within 300 miles of you because they can't afford to practice in this state. There are NO neurosurgeons south of Joliet. That's really scary. And Ob/Gyns are fleeing the state as well because their malpractice insurance is skyrocketing. Young doctors are leaving IL in droves.

Hey, we may not be Chicago, but our little town has a few things!
Anything south of Joliet is considered southern Illinois in reference to medical liability insurance issues. It's actually to your advantage that it's known that way. Advocates want to make sure to help the southern and rural areas sooner than us big cats in the big city! :wink:

You would think that with more doctors to choose from, the premiums would be cheaper up north. Since there are a few to choose from in the rest of this godforsaken state of Illinois!, you would think it would be more expensive in the south. Although, I do not know if supply and demand have anything to do with their premiums.

Not really. It has more to do with tort reform in individual states... thus the reason California is the model.

This may be the first good thing to come out of California since "right-turn-on-red."

I have a question about the Iraq war for Liberal People. Do you think someone poses a threat to the United States if;

The One year anniversary of 9/11 the Leader of a nation goes onto their nation TV station and calls for the Formation of Suicide Bombers to carry out attacks against the United States.

If the leader of a nation will give the familys of Suicide bombers familys thousands of dollars for their killings?
