I live in an apartment complex that has recently been purchased by HUD and is now a public housing complex. I qualified to stay and pay the highest rent. I chose to stay here because I really didn't want to move 2 times in a year as I will be moving to Washington state in July. I am apalled at the fact my management is never in the office during posted office hours, maintenance is the pits!!! I have had a water leak in my closet for over 2 weeks that they just don't seem to want to repair. I'm wondering when the mold and fungus will make me sick. I haven't slept on my bed in weeks because my closet is on my bed waiting for the maintenance people to get off their butts (dispite my numerous calls) and finish the repair job they started - which was basically removing the carpet pad and sucking up water. Water continues to leak in my apt. Yes, the "system" is full of cheaters but it's also full of dead weight employees that are obviously milking the government for they paycheck. I'm not saying that is the case with you but rather what I've seen with my own eyes.big hat carmen wrote:Rick, I didn't take offense at your question. And no, I don't want my hard earned money to go to people too lazy to help themselves, but there are people who cannot help themself who are going without basic needs, like housing and food. The program that I run works with severely mentally ill, like schizophrenics. As for working, do you want your hamburger to be served by someone who is too ill to attend to basic hygiene needs? As someone who deals with the welfare system on a daily basis, I probably hate the "cheats" more than most people because they take services away from those truly in need. I barely survived the funding cuts in July so I am sure that my program will not survive after the end of the fiscal year.12vmanRick wrote: I don't want to or mean to be starting something when I ask this. Why do you want to keep working hard for your money and continue giving your hard earned money to people that do not care to help themselves and think that because you work hard for something and they don't that they should be allowed to have part of your money for nothing ?

This is the frightening thing going on in this country. Why can't Lee & I have a different view of what is "right and moral"?[/quote]big hat carmen wrote:Sorry Lee but this is where I sayPHBeerman wrote: Is America really THIS conservative?

WOOOOHOOOOOO
It is about what is right and moral. Sorry you cannot understand those subjects.
Why is it a "conservative" view to believe that the sanctity of marriage is to be reserved for a man and a woman?

I agree with you on helping those who can't help themselves. I had rather us use the money from Iraq and help America!!!! I wouldn't give a crap if we pulled out and left them to themselves and the rest of that region too. It's obvious that us being there doesn't help the consumer with oil prices.big hat carmen wrote:Rick, I didn't take offense at your question. And no, I don't want some that is too ill to attend to basic hygiene to serve me a burger BUT there are other options to having homeless, etc work for the monitary assistance they recieve. Example, trash pickup!
When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

And those are the first programs to be cut because they are labor intensive and therefore costly.12vmanRick wrote: And no, I don't want some that is too ill to attend to basic hygiene to serve me a burger BUT there are other options to having homeless, etc work for the monitary assistance they recieve. Please move if you do not like it. I hear that there are some European countries that will accept you.
Some people just want to do whatever the hell thay can do with no consequences.
It won't work. When I used to work at the beer distributorship, we would hire from the local rescue mission for some part time clean up (repackaging product and such). After they would get doen, I would go back to check out what they had done and find empty beer cans stashed. (I think they would drink as much as they would repack) and for weeks I would get complaints of beer that has been "mispackaged". The bast**** are lazy in most cases. That is why they are homeless. I have been married for 29 years so I believe in marriage, but why is it wrong for two consenting adults to enter into a relationship. I do not see how that threatens my marriage. And that is the conservative message that I have been hearing in Ohio.PHBeerman wrote:

This is what I take issue with too. Who on this earth has the power and responsiblilty to judge someone's moral issues??Bocanut wrote:PHBeerman wrote:Sorry Lee but this is where I sayKey Lime Lee wrote:What concerns me more is the number of folks who voted to ban gay marriage and limit domestic partner rights....

It is not going to threaten your marriage. However why do said adults, who IMO are breaking natural law, need to taint the establishment that is marriage?big hat carmen wrote:I have been married for 29 years so I believe in marriage, but why is it wrong for two consenting adults to enter into a relationship. It didn't work because it was a f!!king stupid idea. You don't take addicts into that environment and expect them not to behave as addicts. Whoever ran that mission was totally irresponsible, that is the need for supervision and putting people into a less hazardous environment.PHBeerman wrote:[
