I got to see the musical in Coconut Grove and someone made me a tape of the whole show.

I hardly ever go back to listen to the whole thing, but it is great to be able to.

I would love to have a DVD..."The heart is just a muscle."

I need to get technical and covert it to mp3...where does the time go?!

I have not voted yet. I'm still torn between "yes" and "definitely". I'm hoping to make a decision by tonight.

Now that JB has some experience in the movie bidness, I think this would be a great project! :D

They still hope to get in Broadway some day. As some of you know Mrs. Port is in the theatre business and worked on Broadway for many years so she has some inside info on DSTC.
The main problem is the book. Not the book some of us have read, but the adaptation/script of the book to turn it into a play. As it is now it needs some work to make it Broadway worthy on stage. You don't ask Herman Wouk if he would mind you rewriting his work. He's 90 now and (I mean in no way to sound cold here :D ) once he's gone the chance of it coming to Broadway increases significantly. At that point it's much easier to do what they need to do to make it work in Broadway.
That's at least the popular thinking right now.

Well, that's a sad truth...if that's the real story. I thought I'd read a comment from Wouk about Jimmy having already moved on to other projects and not wanting to take the time to go back and do the re-work. I suppose it could be a "he said, he said"...but as I've never seen the show or script/book, I can't judge where the work is needed. And, maybe the issue is with the book and Wouk wanted Jimmy's help but he had indeed moved on....

Regardless, I'd love to see the production sometime, though. :)

It would be great, but I only see it happening right along with a Boise show and a full concert DVD

Mrs. Port personally knows producers with lots of $$$ ready to take it to Broadway when they feel comfortable investing in it. There is even a parrothead or two in the group. 8)
If it was done right I think it would be a home run. It would make a fortune.
Hell, people are willing to go see someone other than Billy Joel sing Billy Joel songs with no real story to go with the songs. :o

I would definitely be interested in a DVD of the stage production. Of course I'm also waiting for that Big Screen Concert Jimmy did in New Orleans December of 2004 (was it?). He even mentioned that a DVD would most likely be available during the show.

But then I'll buy almost anything that says Jimmy Buffett and DVD on it. I struggled long with the decision over buying Live at Fenway. I'm glad I've got it now, both the CDs and the DVD.

I still go for that MiniMatinee DVD every once in a while. Until I can take the keets to an actual show, they'll have to live it through the big screen, and wait to see the show in person. (they're 7 & 11, and don't have the money for a ticket anyway)
