To those who were in Key West for MOTM this year. Do you know anything about the guy that played the bag stuffing and later that day at the Bull? The PHIP website says his name is Jim Asbell. I've never heard of him but he was very good and I believe he said he is from Atlanta. I'd like to get more info if anyone can help.

He seems to be an elusive artist-but he was very good and I'd love to hear him again. Anyway...
Got the name Bahg from my younger days. Many years ago there was this dude who called himself the Bahgwan Shree Rajneesh. (Not sure of the spelling there). Anyway, he was one of these 'religious' cult leaders who always drove around in Rolls Royce autos and had women all over him. That sounded good to me so I told all my friends I wanted to be a Bahghwan some day and the nickname stuck.

Jim Asbell is a local enterntainer in Atlanta who has quickly gotten a strong following. He knows a LOT of of Buffett; he even knew There's Something so Feminine about a Mandolyn when I requested it, and I didn't thing anyone knew that one. This was his first MOTM and we're hoping it's not his last. He plays frequently around the Atlanta area, but particularly in the Gwinnett county area. He's defintely an artist worth having a look at.

Thanks cayman2. I actually live in Gwinnett and will keep an eye out for him. He does know a lot of Buffett. He played Please Take Your Drunken 15 Year Old Girlfriend Home and West Nashville and I have NEVER heard anyone play those two.

Wow. Talk about a classic example of asking and receiving.
I sent you an email. Quite a few of us will be at a house party in Atlanta on New Years Eve, and I'll be in Charleston SC the week before. Are you playing in either area around that timeframe?

Jim, I live in Gwinnett. Where do you usually play?

In Gwinnett I often play at Ledos Pizza and Pub in Norcross (
http://www.ledopizza.com/Stores/norcross.htm), the Wild Wing Cafe in Suwannee (
http://www.wildwingcafe.com/suwanee.html) and at the Flying Machine at the Gwinnett county airport. I'll be at Ledo's on December 11th for their "Christmas in the Caribbean" party. Show times are 7-11.
In between, I'll be playing the Atlanta Parrothead Club's Christmas party at Nemoes in Norcross on December 4. If you are a member, I'll see you there. Anyone interested in joining can get info via their website at
www.atlantaparrotheadclub.org.
Hope to see you soon.

Wild Wings, spent some quality time there.
I just got a call from Four Play and he mentioned you might be around for the New Year's Eve bash. We'd love to see you there if you can make it. You can check the madness at

Hi Jim. I was very impressed with your performance with A1A at the Bull. Thanks for the info, I'll definitely be there December 11th!

Thanks Bahg. Key West was all it is cracked up to be. It was an amazing week and very cool to mingle around with all of the 'name' artists down there. It was also special getting to see JB himself at the Casa Thursday night. I'm hoping to get an invite again next year. Be sure to introduce yourself at Ledos on the 11th.
Thanks also to Land Shark and Four Play. The New Years Eve bash looks fun and I'll see if I can drop by if things work out.
Take care and hope to see you all soon.

Those of us in the Atlanta Parrot Head Club who have seen Jim a number of times were not the least bit surprised he made a good impression. Here's hoping Jim will be back next year. MOTM is a pretty intense experience, particularly for the uninitiated. Looking forward to seeing you at the APHC Christmas party!

Good grief J...we don't want to scare the man away!
Welcome Jim! I'm coming all the way from Cali for this NYE bash (hmmm, come to think of it, I think I'm the one that started this whole crazy thing

) so I hope you can come join us...we'd love to meet (not meat) you.
And we're having all that seafood...what more could you ask for?
