Nashvillains In-the-Round
David Mead
Jason White
Matthew Ryan
Will Kimbrough
OK – Here’s the deal. Four of Nashville’s premiere singer/songwriters got together and decided to strip the stage bare of all non-essentials (i.e. amps, drums and other musicians). Just four singers with their acoustic guitars and an endless wealth of amazing songs. What followed was the idea to hit the road and show the rest of the country what an “evening in the round” was like. Stripped down, intimate and a real feeling of community. All four musicians on stage at the same time – each one highlighting the best songs of their careers and helping the others with theirs.
David Mead – David’s new album Indiana (Nettwerk) highlights his return to the music city after two years in Manhattan. With a similar feel to the bohemian aesthetics of Joe Jackson and the poignant balladry of Canadian counterpart Ron Sexsmith, Mead uses the sparkle of an acoustic guitar and his unmistakable tenor to tell the stories of a man that has spent the past ten years on the road. David has had success in the past with two releases on MCA records and has opened for John Mayer and Fountains of Wayne in the past year.
Jason White: Jason’s new album “Tonight’s Top Story” was released in August and looks to surpass his last album which included the hits “Average Joe” and “At the Alibi”. Jason has received years of critical acclaim and even wrote the controversial #1 hit “Red Ragtop” for Tim McGraw. Jason possesses honest, literate, incisive lyrics and a gift for melody that reminds that listener of Squeeze and XTC.
Matthew Ryan: In the past years, Matthew has shared the stage which the likes of Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle and Casey Chambers. He’s played David Letterman and Conan…and even found time to release a new album - Regret Over the Wires. Matthews’s sound brings to mind the heart-felt honesty of Dylan with the youthful swagger of Ryan Adams.
Will Kimbrough: Will brings together a blend of folk, soul and alt-country that is both unique and familiar. Shades of Neil Finn and Alex Chilton can be found in his new album Home Away. Having bounced around the alt-country scene for the past 15 years, Will has spent time on the road with Kim Richey, Todd Snider, Garrison Starr and Josh Rouse. He is an ordinary guy telling ordinary stories in an extraordinary way.
