CMT Jimmy/Martina:Making the video

Post by bananaman »

Just watched the CMT special on Jimmy's new video. Pretty cool. If only I'd known that they filmed it right here in SC. Only about an hour from where I live. Turns out that Jimmy really did do all of the flying-loops and all. Looks like they had lots of fun during filming. :D

I saw it too...it was great. I LOVE the video, Folly Beach (and the song).
I got so excited when the video's Director, Trey, was telling about Jimmy; that he was such a "real" person...not like other "stars". And how true was her statement about him having the "most wonderful smile".

When he said "We lost Martina"...all I could think of was The Sand Dollar...a drinking establishment on Folly that I have spent more than my fair share of time in.......A friend from Charleston was here with me and I was telling the TV..."She's at The Dollar!"....

I lived on Folly for about 6 yrs......Nice little place to live..

Jimmy's quote "We're still here. We're still laughing." was my favorite part.
Great show!

This was my favorite quote:
Martina - "They're having a clam bake or something"
Jimmy - "There are no clams in it"
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

I liked it, but just wish Jimmy would have stayed off the bike for the video :D . Maybe he could have simply done a fly by while Martina was riding. Haha  .

I kept thinking "Four Play" during any Low Country Boil footage! I've never had or seen one, and now I feel even more deprived! I'm also completely jealous that you and others could name the beach from the CMT video stream! Where have I been the last 38 years?

I managed to avoid this thread all day so I could see the show myself without any pre-conceived notions. In retrospect, nothing was said that would have tarnished the enjoyment of watching that for me!!! I think it's an awesome video, but seeing the "making of" made me totally need to hang out with Jimmy on an ocean beach for a weekend! Who were the "extras", and why weren't any of us invited???

52 weekends a year, say 10 parrotheads per weekend - how is he gonna find the time to share this experience with every one of us? I guess, agreeing to both the video and the special was his attempt at just that!

I liked the Pavlovian comment over the spread of food, I liked that he was laughing at the truck stuck in the sand, I liked the "no hands", I liked the propane campfire, I liked the comment about computer enhancing Martina into the plane when she was too nervous about it. But most of all, I liked how natural, comfortable, and knowledgeable Jimmy appeared throughout the whole show.

Anyway, it's on 6:30pm CST Sat, and 1:30pm CST Sun - I will definitely set the VCR, because to me, it's worth watching over and over. I absolutely LOVED it!!!

saw it! What an awesome mini-documentary. I was a little disappointed that it was only a half-hour though. I would've like to see more of Bubbas aerobatics. That boy can fly!

I really can't take credit for that; I was thinking it was Edisto. Prthd119 was the one who insited it was Folly. She got me wondering, so I called the Margaritaville store and they confirmed. They didn't know the video was already out, so I did email them the link.

I LOVED the Making of as well. I liked the part when the director said Jimmy was the sweetest celebrity she had ever met. Awww. I also liked when he said he had a nap...this is what a nap does for you.

Jimmy said at the beginning of it that they were at Folly Beach. They also showed a sign that said Folly Beach.

The point is that we knew it was Folly last week, before the making of the video segment gave it away. :)

Sorry-I misunderstood. I thought the first time the video was shown was after the making of. Am I wrong again?/

Not wrong, just not completely in the know!  People with non-dinosauric computers and connections (call me dino!) could watch the video on CMT.com before it premiered on CMT. They also showed the video on CMT during last week's Top 20 Countdown, which was before the special aired. No worries however! It's all good! :D
