A Thank You to the Teachers on here!

Post by Prthd119 »

Got this in my email and just wanted to share...
To the teachers here, Thank You.......You make a difference!

WHAT TEACHERS MAKE

The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life. One
man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued:
"What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in
life was to become a teacher?" He reminded the other dinner guests that
it's true what they say about Teachers:"Those who can...do. Those who
can't, teach."

To corroborate, he said to another guest: "You're a teacher, Susan. Be
honest. What do you make?" Susan, who had a reputation of honesty and
frankness, replied, "You want to know what I make? "I make kids work
harder than they ever thought they could."

"I can make a C+ feel like a Congressional Medal of Honor and an A- feel
like a slap in the face if the student did not do his or her very best."

"I can make kids sit through 40 minutes of study hall in absolute silence."

"I can make parents tremble in fear when I call home"

You want to know what I make?"

"I make kids wonder."

"I make them question."

"I make them criticize."

"I make them apologize and mean it."

"I make them write."

"I make them read, read, read."

"I make them spell definitely beautiful, definitely beautiful, and
definitely beautiful over and over and over again, until they will never
misspell either one of those words again."

"I make them show all their work in math and hide it all on their final
drafts in English."

"I make them understand that if you have the brains, then follow your
heart...and if someone ever tries to judge you by what you make, you pay
them no attention." You want to know what I make?"

"I make a difference."

I'm not a teacher but my wife is. I'm forwarding this to her now. Thanks!
And thank you to all the BN teachers too.
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

And I'll forward it to my many teacher friends as well.
You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say
I’m still gliding as I go flying down this endless wave

Why is it that the people who do the most for the human race get paid the least? Teachers need a large raise!

they don't in most areas..... maybe your friends do, where they live, but not in most areas..... they don't get paid sh*t for the magnitude of the job they do. my parents live below the poverty level on a teacher's pension. it suks! :-?

We live in Idaho. (rate of paying is fairly low around here) My wife is also an educator. (College Instructor) When you factor in the work schedule, they probably do a lot better than I do.

(I am going to call my best friend up and whine to him about his 7 month work schedule now. I'll be back)

As a teacher, I thank you Connie!
I sure as hell didn't get into this line of work for the money, but we are fairly paid in Canada, so no probs there. The thing is, after 28 years, I still go off to work in the morning with a lift to my spirit wondering what I am going to learn this day!

Thanks for posting that. I passed it on to everyone else who's in school with me to be a teacher.

What a great article. I volunteer at an elementary school and I will give a copy of that to every teacher there. I have always said that teaching is a noble profession... DEFINITELY!!!! (not definately)
