Riot in Detroit

Post by CaptainP »

Anyone see the game?

Ron Artest fouls Ben Wallace hard.
Wallace shoves Artest.
The teams scuffle, it ends.
FAN comes out of the stands, attacks ARTEST!!!!!! (Of all people, why would you attack this maniac?)

ALL OUT BRAWL ENSUES!!!!!!!
Fans, players, coaches!
It's on the floor...in the stands.

Game was called & awarded to the Pacers. (They would've won anyway.)

Anyone see it? We had it on at the restaurant....it was incredible!

THe fan should be thrown in jail.

The foul really wasn't much. Wallace shoved, but it was really no big deal. The fan should be sent to jail for instigating a public riot.

The players being professionals should have had enough mind to restrain themselves also. Climbing onto the table to get the fans? I am not siding with the fan who threw the beer but they players have to realize they are going to be chided and hassled by fans. It goes with the territory. I thought the players were totally out of line.

that foul you are right wasn't much. but the BS fouls
after the play or "because" you cannot legaly stop the hoop
is what I am jumping on..

PS. I think that the "late" hits after a football player has crossed the goal line are BS. too..
Just me.

I just watched that with my kids and two of their friends...it was the most amzing, and not in a good way, thing I have ever seen! In all of the sporting events that I have watched...I have never seen anything like that. It was surreal. I personally think that there will be some people from the security force fired!

But that's unfair...the security force was outnumbered by 16,000 people!!!

It started as self-defense....but then they let emotion take them. I'm not condoning what they did, but I can understand. What would you do if someone came to your job, grabbed you around the neck and started punching your face?

yeah, but there should be enough security in place to squelch anything like that......

HOWEVER, that doesn't take the fans and players off the hook, IMHO.

I realize they are out numbered...but it was slowly escalating...it could have been stopped to some point if there was fast action....not pretending to know anything...but thats the way it looked to me.

yes. fast, effective security measures could probably have prevented escalation.
