I am a major mystery reader, especially historical and tropical themed books. Anybody else, and what do you read?

Mystery Books

Post by elderflowerapplejuice »

I read about 75 mystery books a year commuting to NYC on the train. I keep a track of all my books and have many historical mystery authors. I also like to read any mysteries taking place in the tropics, if you would like I can email you a list of authors I would recommend and books too.

sunny regards

I read a lot of mysteries, too. All kinds.

Just found the 2nd in a series called MUSTANG SALLY. Great story. With a reference to Bubba. Set in Wyoming. About the music bidness.

BrownEyedGirl, your list and mine are about the same. Love Elizabeth Peters and Janet Evanovich. Used to love Patricia Cornwell, not so much now. Martha Grimes, Elizabeth George, Tim Dorsey, Carl Hiiason, Dave Barry, etc.
Tim Dorsey and Carl Hiasson took sme getting used to. Oh and PD James. Am currently reading a Diane Mott Davidson. Like it but she's starting to get on my nerves with the whining. I see a few tropical references here so I'm going to check them out now. And Elderflower I'd love your list of recommends. I'm always looking for new authors.

A I have 3 sisters.
B I'm OK enough with myself if it has a good plot and
doesn't make stupid mistakes (taking the safety off the revolver)
I will give it a try.
C. very few people would point at my reading material and
make fun of it.

D. All three sisters read If it really reeks (for me) they will take it off my hands.

But thanks.. :D :D

If you like historical/detective type books you can't beat Max Allen Collins. His character's name is Nate Heller. I highly recommend any of his books.

Love mystery/thriller/detective books. I read one a week. John D. MacDonald is the best, no question, no doubt. I got started on Trixie Belden books and now my favorites are:
  • Patricia Cornwell
    Dean Koontz
    Janet Evanovich
    Sue Grafton
    John Sandford
    Stuart Woods
    Sara Paretsky
    Linda Barnes
    Carol O'Connell
There's a reason why all of these are best-selling authors....they are EXCELLENT writers!!!!
