this really makes no sense. maybe this thread has already been covered, i don't know, but how in the world could Jimmy do a hurricane benifit show without playing his song about hurricanes!?!??!?!!?!? It makes no sense

! Oh well, too bad, at least he's still performing!

He seems to do pretty much the summer setlist for special shows. I would have expected more Florida songs in general.

It baffled me too, but I was more upset with the broken up feed that I got for the second half of the show.

I am surprised to read this as well. I was also surprised during the jones Beach show this summer (Sept 4) while one of thise hurricanes was slamming Florida, he didn't play it either. Like Johnson said, he tends to stick to the summer set list with few detours

It's as curious as when he played the Palace in Auburn Hills in 2001 and
didn't play Gypsies In The Palace!!!

Just like when he played Blockbuster Pavillion and didn't play the Ballad of Skip Wiley.

Yea this surprised me some too, no "I have found me a home" and "Tryin to reason"
Great show though, I needed it!

That is the first thing I thought of, and what is the first topic I see this morning? How funny! Can't really bust on the guy since it was a charity show, but my God!

Well.... the whole thing seemed alittle amiss to me....
Let's have a Benefit concert in a area that has been hit by a Hurricane and charge the people for a show that have had to spend their money on other things like new roofs and supplies to just survive.
Wouldn't it have been better to go to a place like Vegas or somewhere else and then send the money back this way as a benefit???? or have a free show for the victims????
anyway just a thought...... not much of one ..... but sometimes they come to me....

exactly Im been saying that all along, I really thought the rumur about doing the "Hockey town" tour would have been a perfect way to raise money for florida and give business to companies hurt by the lockout

I always think of Trying To Reason and wanted to hear it played last night too, but maybe Jimmy feels like the song treats hurricanes to nonchalantly.
When you go back and listen to the lyrics, it does seem to minimalize dealing with hurricane season, which should not be done...IMHO.
During our hurricane, I did call and request TTR and the local station played it.
Now, I got to thinking, as much as I love Buffett and that song, he may have thought twice about playing it...
...things change. I Don't KNOW!

And, just like he never plays "Dallas" when he comes to Dallas. Although, it's not the most flattering song about my hometown.

I was so sure that he was going to open or close with "Hurricane Season". But, what the hell. It was a great show. And as for it being in florida, well I think it's really about us taking care of eachother down here. I was born in South Florida and am stationed in Georgia right now. So I wanted to send alittle money back to help out and drove down to Orlando.

Just got back to PA after spending the week in Cocoa Beach. While there I was fortunate enough to have scored tickets for the Hurricane Relief show. I took my sister with me who is a Buffett virgin. On the way to the show I played Tryin to Reason to acquaint her with it assuming it would be played. When the show ended I was stunned he did not play it.
The following night I went to M'Ville in Orlando hoping Jimmy would make a surprise visit as he had done years prior. Unfortunately Jimmy was a no-show. The bar tender said he was seen at Emeral's restaurant in City Walk on Tuesday night having dinner before the show. It was my first visit to M'Ville in about three years and was excited to see the Hemisphere Dancer looking as good as ever in dry dock.
