Looks like we can add Barry Bonds to the list.... (like this is a surprise?? )http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/b ... index.html

no one can convince me that a professional athlete (or any rational adult) takes a substance without knowing (or at the very least suspecting) what it is....

Bonds just admitted to using some creme substance, but he claimed he didn't know they were steroids, and they were. This is under a grand jury, mind you.

Bonds is a moron to think we would believe something like that, I can't believe this guy. I always used to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I don't think I will be doing that anymore.

Giambi and Shefield on Roids
Kevin Brown punching walls
ARod slapping at pitchers glove
Lofton elbowing people on first base

It's only been 4 years but it seems like a long way from the Tino Martinez, Paul O'Neill , Scott Brosius and David Cone days. Back then the only problem player was wife beater David Justice.

Barry's testimony is pretty similar to Sheffield's... he used the cream, but didn't know there were steroids in it. '89 vs. '03 hmmmmmmm...

I think his worst offense is that hideous earring he wears!

The Yankees (or any other team for that matter) could terminate a players contract and position with the team if they use steroids...even in Giambi's case where I'm sure a steroid test given now would come back negative. There are clauses in their contracts stating they have to keep in top physical shape, and adhere to the training rules of the organization.

Ken Caminatti :(

Didn't Caminatti die of a cocaine overdose??

When I read this post the first person I thought about was Lyle Alzado.

I played against Lyle Alzado in high school, I think he was twice my size back then. But I used to be little.

Didn't John Matuszak OD too?

The Yankees are only terminating the contract because he has the virus which he might not recover from, so for the yankees they can save money and make a PR move at the same time, if he was still crushing the ball they would stand behind him. Did anyone not know Bonds was a roids when he would go off on one of his "roids rage" days. Your caught just admitted jerk!!!!!

Go Tigers, rising from the ashes in 05!!!!!

i've always been curious how a substance that is illegal in this country can be considered "not banned" in any sport.
so if the NFL forgot to specifically name crack on it's banned substance list it would be ok to smoke?

you'd probably be able to get caught with coke in your system 5 times before the league did anything :-?

All Pete Rose did was gamble. He's banned for life.

I think the difference is that the penality for gambling is stricter than for steroid use :-?

That's what I was saying. It hardly seems fair.
