Jimmy Buffett debate

Post by Ilph »

The St. Louis Riverfront Times recently placed Jimmy on the Ten Most Hated Men in Rock list. In this week's issue, "Kristie McClanahan discusses Jimmy Buffett's one-night-only cinematic experience with an avowed parrot-hater." I don't know how great the debate really is, but at least it's some publicity for this week's show.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!
You want highbrow culture, go read Tolstoy. Have Pachelbel waft through the foyer (and pronounce it a foy-yay) and eat some friggin' truffles. We don't like him because he's an artist with complex musical scores and a pitch-perfect voice. We wouldn't know what to do if he was. But Jimmy Buffett is a hell of an entertainer: a cool, manatee-saving uncle whose stories you have heard a hundred times but never get sick of. And that's why people buy his books, CDs and tickets to Wednesday's screening -- and will continue to do so. So he's doing something right. Millions of drunks in leis and coconut bras can't be wrong.
Carry on as you know they would want you to do. ~~JB, dedication to Tim Russert

The real truth is in the article, some people don't get, but we don't care. Stay out of our way in route to the local theater or you may get finned either by the left or right.

I tried to stop explaining this to people 20 years ago. But, take them to a show and they tend to become regulars. Actions speak louder than words. This little newspaper piece is a fine example.
