I've heard a couple tracks from their "Dirty South" cd, i think it was at Borders, one of those CDs you could sample, and i can honestly say they s***
So, you're going to judge an entire band on the merits of a couple of tracks from one album you went into prepared to hate anyway? Yeah, I'd say that's fair. NOT. For your information The Dirty South is not their only album, there is also Gangstabilly, Pizza Deliverance, Alabama Ass Whuppin', Southern Rock Opera and Decoration Day. It also depends on who's singing what track because the Truckers have three lead vocalists, all with very distinctive styles. If you give 'em a fair chance and still don't like 'em, that I understand but I doubt anyone here is doing that because they've already made up their minds that they're not going to like 'em before they've even heard the first note of music.
thats exactly what you did when you judged keith urban. I asked you once if you had ever even heard him, and you said "I saw one of his music videos and part of a CMT concert that I couldn't stand". Why are you such a hypocrite. I think by hearing 3 songs prior to ever hearing about them via buffettnews, i can make a fair judgement. Also i've listened to their soundbites on iTunes for some southern rock opera album which i didn't care for either.

I realize not everyone is going to like the same thing and the Truckers most certainly aren't for everyone. Same as Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, etc. aren't for everyone.
but see, I have made an effort to listen to their music. What enticed me to listen to the album was the cool album art. Prior to that maybe you posted something here but i don't think i payed much attention to it. I listened to about 3 songs, and didn't like any of them. I honestly thought it was just loud and horrible noise, not music. I have my formulated and reasonable opinion that you may not agree with, but understand that i have made an effort to listen to them so my opinion is just as good as anybodys

Sometimes I like certain songs because of the mood they put me in. For example I like Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy because it makes me feel happy and sometimes I actually laugh during it. I like Brickhouse by the Commordores because it's fun to sing to, dance to and it brings back great memories etc.....

You say that you have listened to some of the mainstream country as painful as it may be. Would you please explain what you mean by painful?? Also do you ever just like a song because it is upbeat and lighthearted??
I think someone has already said it best but I meant painful to my ears. As for your second question, why of course I do. I'm a Jimmy Buffett fan aren't I?

your friend was rude in his explanation my friend. I seriously wanted to understand and I THOUGHT that we had reached an understanding and with our discussion of the Austin music scene I thought we were reaching a common ground.

Would you please call your freind off my back??
No offense whatsoever intended to Y NO 9 O but other than reading their posts here, I really don't know the person. As far as this "understanding" you keep referring to, I'm a bit lost. Yes, we've found some common ground but that doesn't mean I'm never going to disagree with you on anything. I let my temper get to me yesterday and regrettfully stooped to the level of those that take issue with me for which I've since apologized but I could never agree not to ever disagree with you on any given subject again. If more tact is what you were suggesting, I feel like I've done that but I can't really say the same about everyone else.

I'm not being an hypocrite I'm just being honest. I've seen Keith Urban's video and attempted to watch his concert that aired on CMT not long ago. I watched all I could take and then changed the channel. At least I'm offering you an honest assessment. I can't sit there and watch something that doesn't hold my interest. I gave the guy a chance and just wasn't into his music. If you've done the same with the Truckers that's all I can ask. I'm just curious as to what songs you listened to because the group has three lead vocalists, each with distinctive styles of songwriting so if you listened to only one of them then I don't think you are seeing the bigger picture. If you did so and your feeling is they're not your cup of tea I think that's great, at least you made the effort.

Jah, no offense taken. And I totally understand your feeling the need to say that.
As I posted earlier, I was not speaking for Jah. (note to Jah, I am a male, can't you tell by how I am constantly wrong?)
And, as I also posted, I didn't totally agree WITH Jah, but I did disagree with PH4. Somehow, I think that is not "taking the high road" on this board.

whatever the first three tracks of that dirty south cd was were the ones i listned too, and plus i've listned to some soundbites from their south rock opera cd on itunes which i didn't care for either. Either way, i don't think i'll be buying any of their albums . . . i made an effort to listen to there music, didn't like it, and moved on and found other artists.

That's what I'm talking about.

Hey, you need to change the color of your sig line, that cyan blue does not have enough contrast, but that Bob Marley line says it all.

aaaaahhhh! Much easier on the eyes. And the message means more when you can actually read it!

And if I offended your choice of color, I am sorry.

I take offense at your being offended by my lack of tact over the pallor of the color.

I do not own a single DBT's cd. The few songs I have heard I have enjoyed. I know many people who are into them. I would love to see them live.
