Travis Tritt

Post by DeactiveCarib »

I just picked up Travis Tritt's DVD "Live & Kickin," and i had a revelation: What in the world ever happened to Travis Tritt? He was huge in the early to mid 90s, had somewhat of a comeback in 2001, and since then he has gotten no attention. His last two albums didn't do great at all, and this DVD didn't get any advertisement, not to mention i have been looking for it for about 2 months now and finally got lucky finding it at a bookstore.

Travis Tritt really is such a good artist, guitarist, and songwriter. His live shows are excellent too. And regardless of whether or not he's "pop country," - which would really be stretch to call him "pop country" since he was kind of a "new outlaw," - you have to admire his sincerity. He's got the badass look and appeal but hes really a very nice guy and you can tell by the way he sings, gives interviews, and by how much he just talks to his audience at his concerts.

Any other Travis Tritt fans here that are wondering what he did to Nashville so that they won't play him anymore?

his single with john mellencamp has received some good airtime on cmt and country radio, and got him on the o'reilly factor.

Maybe it was his attitude?? I know of an instance where he was scheduled to play a club in the Dallas area and got there and threw a diva hissy fit and said he was a "star" and needed much better accomodations and left refusing to play.

I know that is just one incident but if someone walked around with that attitude they may become labled as trouble and no one wants to deal with them??

Just a guess on my part. Please don't anyone blast me.

Funny - I've been seeing Travis Tritt everywhere I turn lately! The country and rock stations I listen to have both been playing "What Say You" regularly, I saw him on the Tonight Show, CMT and GAC play the video a lot, and DirecTV has been airing a Freeview concert of his.

Where he's been until recent months I'm not sure, but he's out there now!

I was really groovy into country when Travis Tritt was very popular in the 90s. Then my musical tastes changed and I haven't paid much attention.

uhhhhh. what are you asking? what does "back in the day" mean or how long ago?

"back in the day" = a long time ago.

in tt's case about 10 or 15 years ago when he was popular. cuz you know me, i only go for the popular stuff.

I met Travis Tritt a few times. He was good friends with my cohost when I worked in coutry radio. He is one of the nicest people in the music business I've ever met. As for his airplay, what can be said for Travis can be said for a LOT of country singers that were big in the 90's (Tracy Byrd, Mark Chesnutt, Tracy Lawrence, Diamond Rio, Rick Trevino, David Lee Murphy, Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, etc) It's kind of sad that the Nashville machine lets their artists fall from grace so often.

I've never really cared for him but at least he served as the anti-Billly Ray Cyrus for a while which was kinda humorous if nothing else.

I've also seen Travis everwhere lately, GAC,CMT and even Fox News with O' Reilly.
He has not gone anywhere.
He'll be here in Jax in a matter of days.
Liked his single "Girls gone Wild" a few months back
