Mockingbird has been released. I'm surprised RCA and Dreamworks worked everything out to release Piece of Work. I'm not a Toby fan, but I do love this song.
Also remember, Trip isn't dead yet... it will be a while before they put out the next single (the charts freeze the last 2 weeks of the year on top of everything else, so it should be at least January at any rate.)
Just because Piece of Work has been decided upon as the "next" single doesn't mean it's coming immediately. Y'all know I will let you know when it shows up!

"Mockingbird" is horrible.
I love James Taylor and Carly Simon but I hate their version as well.

I just can't ever remember an artist releasing two singles back to back that are duets. In Jimmy's case it's a little different. The bulk of this album is duets, but I'm suprised Toby and his people are wanting this to happen.

That's a good point, and I should have clarified in my original post. Steve gave no mention of when the single is being released, just that it is next.
I'm not getting sound on the video either

I spoke to Will Kimbrough last night at a show in Dayton, Ohio. Will wrote the song. Will told me that Jimmy is re recording the song and it will be Buffett solo. He said Toby's record company was giving Buffetts label trouble over something?

That doesn't surprise me. However... I HATE when artists do that. They re-record, or re-mix, the single for radio, then people go out to buy the record and it doesn't sound anything close to what they heard on the radio.
That song without Toby isn't the same. There are PLENTY of good Jimmy solo songs on LTC, why not put out one of them? Back to the Island would be great timing with Kenny putting out his island record in January. I'd love to hear Coast of Carolina as a single.
GRRRRR..........

I think the song is better without Toby. Why doesn't he do it with Will?

Not to be picky, but as much as everyone complains about Buffett being spelled with one T...George Strait

Actually, since Jimmy is buoying up George's career... It's now George Straightt

That's because QuickTime sucks!!

When I listen to the video I get sound, but it's totally garbled and sounds horrible. I've never had luck with any kind of a QuickTime file (.mov).
I've unistalled and re-installed the free version a couple of times over the past two years, but it doesn't fix anything. The suckiest part about it is that everything JB releases is through QuickTime.

I think it would be really popular too, as TK's songs always are. I am thrilled at the exposure no matter what songs are released!
I think that the performance of POW at Mahalia Theater would make a wonderful video with the song.
It was nice how the girls took the second verse, then Will took the third, and then Buffett got to sing the verse with his choirboy's face.
It was such a great setting and would make a nice live version video.

video, how about releasing that as a single?
Des, that's a great idea. There are so many great performers in there and it would be neat to see Will get more exposure since he's playing on that one. I guess Bill Payne is on piano. Then there is also Sonny Landreth on guitar. Then it also has Roger, Ralph, Doyle and Mac also.
Are those guys IDed right?
Great footage of lighthouse, kayak, sailboat, airplane, plus the lyrics just kinda hit home for Jimmy...
What studio is that recorded in? Is that Shrimpboat? Why is there a little umbrella on the drums sometimes. I noticed that at Mahalia show too; there was a little colorful umbrella by the steel drums. Does that keep sound from traveling too far out to the other mics?
I still leave CMT on just to have a chance viewing of Trip Around The Sun. Jimmy has been a very busy guy. How does he do it all?

For those people that are not hearing sound when the video plays... I have an idea. Instead of clicking on the link and allowing the video to play in the window of your browser. Simply hi-lite and copy (CTRL+C) the link to the video:
http://stream.qtv.apple.com/qtv/AEG/htt ... tt_600.mov
Then open your QuickTime player, click on the "FILE" tab at the top of the player, then click "OPEN URL" and paste the address in there and then hit PLAY.
It worked for me... Hopefully, it'll work for you.

The link worked better for me with the embedded plugin. At first I copied and pasted and used my quicktime, but the sound was all garbled that way.

That's so weird. It was the exact opposite for me. Strange...

Quicktime never works right on my computer and I've never been able to figure out why.
I even have a feature on my digital camera that makes quicktime movies. I have a hard time making them work with any video player, so I was surprised that that link automatically opened up with a player that works. Go figure!

While "Coastal Confessions" is great it is too long for radio at nearly 5 1/2 minutes and I would hate to see them chop it down to 4 minutes.
"Back to the Island" is great too but I can not see it doing well on country radio.
I was hoping that the next single would be either "Sea Of Heartbreak" or "Piece Of Work" since anything with George or Toby does well.

Okay, I'm naive on this stuff, but how can someone (Toby Keith) appear on an album "Courtesy of...(their label)" and then when the single is to be released, the label comes back and creates problems? I don't know the business side of this, but it seems quite "small" to me. Did Toby's label think LTC wouldn't do well and now that it has they want a bigger piece of the pie?? What am I missing here?? And to think Toby now does his recording at Shrimpboat!
I'm not a great Toby fan...especially since he and Kenny messed up HGL on the CMAs (although I'm trying to give Toby and Kenny the benefit of the doubt by assuming they are color blind -- since Jimmy had given them color-coded lyric sheets for the CMA performance prep), but the original recording of POW is a good one. Releasing a different single would remove Jimmy's opportunity to put more wind in Will's sails, which Jimmy graciously seems to be making an effort to do. (A lesson for Toby's label, perhaps?)
