And as Quiet and Shy points out #3 On New York Times Bestseller list.

<<<A Salty Piece of Land is #3 on the NY Times list. (Looks like the Mitch Ablom book got a boost from the made-for-TV-movie that was on last week.) If you haven't gotten and read ASPL yet, you're missing out on a great one!!! http://www.nytimes.com/pages/books/bestseller/>>>

Thanks, Conched. You also had noted ASPL is at #3 on Publisher's Weekly.

I think ASPL has a good chance of reaching #1. The Mitch Albom got a good jump with the made-for-TV-movie from last week, and the Da Vinci Code is still selling well. Otherwise, there were a couple of other strong debuts, but I think Jimmy has a real good shot with this one. The initial promotion and early reviews gave it some momentum, but the quality of the writing and story will give it plenty of sustaining juice. As I said in another thread, I think it's Jimmy's best book (and I've really enjoyed them all).

As Cayo Loco shines, so will A Salty Piece of Land.

What I want to know is IF A Salty Piece Of Land does go to #1, will that be the first time ever that a musician/author has had a #1 release in each medium in one year? I'm clueless to whether or not this has ever happened (and for that matter, any other medium, book and movie, movie and a record, etc...) It's a shame it didn't just debut at #1 like License To Chill did. #3? COME ON!

Oh, by the way, does anyone have the insite as to whether or not the single A Salty Piece Of Land will be counted in units sold and could also chart on the Billboard Top 200 Singles? Kind of like what Prince did with buy a ticket get the new album (Musicology) which figured in to moving the album from 68 to the Top Ten in one week earlier this year.

Just curious.

Amazon and Barnes and Noble bestseller list changes frequently and ASPL has moved down to #16 and #13.

I was wondering the same thing about the single. I heard it on a local radio station today.
