I'd have to agree with you that some kids would - some wouldn't. It kinda depends on the 13 year old. I know at 13 my son would have but I also know of other 13 year olds that wouldn't.

Yep, depends on where they get their education, usually it's at home or school, sometimes it's over the Internet.

P.S. I like your standing ovation... Now, that's funny!

Either way, his signature doesn't begin to justify the comments that were made about his sister.

NOTHING justifies an adult talking to a child in any offendiing manner. Especially one of the opposite sex and I'm sorry I don't care if the sister is 18 she's a child!!!!

I've just decided, my son is not going to be allowed on this forum until he's 16. I'd rather he remained a kid a little longer! I need two more boat drinks...

Yea..thick skins are convenient for people who don't want to be responsible. The remarks were highly inappropriate to make to a 13 year old, regarding his sister no less. It is called respect and has nothing to do with the thickness of anyone's skin
I didnt see the comments...but have you looked at 'the 13yr olds' quotes..Im thinking the 'eat more beaver' comment is not exactly appropraite on hos part either...
I am St. Somewhere's Aunt and I cannot believe what I am reading. I will tell you that my nephew has no clue about his comments and is not the "sick" kid that you have alluded to. He is simply a very nice young man who was thrilled to meet Jimmy Buffett. He trusted that the picture he sent to ST. Somewhere was not to be used as it was and only asked for his help so he could turn it into his avatar. He is young, innocent and trusting and he has been taken advantage of and beat up by you people for no apparent reason. He adores his sister and this has been heartbreaking for him but I am sure that you don't even care. This site is disgusting. Thank you to the people who stood up for him and thank you to RJ (aka the other "st.somewhere") for his apology.

Maam,

The comments were made by a couple people on a site that has hundreds of members. Please don't be turned of by the comments of the few. This is a great board and a great place to talk about Jimmy and get info and has some of the greatest people you'll ever talk to. Sorry this happened, but hopefully you'll give the board another chance.

Once again, a few members make us all look like jerks.  This isn't what this site is about..... I'm embarrassed that a post like the one from Island Time is necessary.

Island Time, ST SOMEWHERE, *I* care that your feelings have been hurt. *PLEASE* understand that *MOST* parrotheads and *MOST* members of this board don't condone this type of behavior. :-? :-? :-?

Personally, ST SOMEWHERE, I think you're an exceptional young man, because although I didn't see the show, it sounds like you had a lot of guts and poise to speak to Jimmy. I think most of us adults would have been tongue-tied...... You seem a fair bit more mature than some of the alleged adults around here, and I hope you'll stick around.

I am sure that there are wonderful people on this board and I thank the ones that showed up to take up for my nephew. What is unfortunate is that he only met the "few" and they were the majority replying to him the other night. I'm the one who gave him those front row seats and encouraged him to share his experience on this board because I felt it was safe. It has been a hard lesson for me and my niece and nephew.
What is wrong with people who don't care that they have hurt 2 young innocent kids and yes I say kids. Even though she is 18, she is far from being an adult. She has cried alot of tears over this. I guess it is a necessary lesson that they have learned about trust. I just hate that it was on a Buffett website and I would be willing to bet he would be too...don't think he would take too kindly to anyone talking about his son or daughters that way.

I am so sorry that your niece and nephew had to encounter people - adults- that would not take into consideration that they were children and that they would be considered mean and offending to them. Not everyone on this site is like that. There are quite a few of us here who have children, always welcome children to the board and take into consideration that there are children present when they are posting. The behavior of a few make me embarassed as well. Please convey to your niece and nephew that not all people are as cold hearted, cruel and inconsiderate as those they encountered here the other night. Please accept my apologies for their behavior.

I'm pretty sure if inappropriate comments had been made to or about your kids, you'd have a real problem with that........

I have a hard time believing that any parent wouldn't have a problem with adults making sexually inappropriate comments about their kids.... but whatever.....

I can't believe any parent could condone any adult making sexually inapporpriate comments to any kid regardless of where the comment takes place. With so many sexual crimes against children starting on the internet I am astonished at the attitudes of some parents here.
