I emailed Mailboat Records yet again, to see if there was an update on what LTC concerts would be released on CD and when that would happen.

Here is there answer:

We are planning on releasing some of them towards the end of the first
quarter of 2005

Could they be any more vague?????

 Vague??

I'm very surprised they narrowed the time frame that much!
I'll be surprised if any are released before June, although the
first few were released fairly quickly. I just hope the Denver
show will be included in the release.

Would it kill the guy who responds to the e-mails at Mailboat to answer in more than a single sentance? I once wrote an e-mail that was serveral paragraphs to them and the single sentance response (which didn't answer all my questions) was quite agravating.

At least you get a reply.
I hate emailing questions and getting no response.
Mailboat at least recognizes that you exist.

I'm still betting they'll come out in July of 2008

This is true. Its because he hand binds every copy of Salty Piece of Land, personally records every disc that is ordered and hand paints every CD & DVD cover. I mean he's not Santa Claus.

Most likely, and I understand that. But really, every time! It's not that I really mind, it's just something I noticed. Not one response I ever got or anyone from this board has posted has ever been longer than a sentence!

Besides that, maybe we aren't the only e-mails he has to answer. If I had to type a bunch of e-mails per day, being extra careful that I didn't say something the label couldn't support, I would be very brief. Maybe, contractually, the person isn't allowed to answer some of your very specific questions.

Maybe he only has one finger.

Not that it's the case here but a lot of times the responses sent out from some sites are automated.

I know how I'd use that finger if I were him :pirate:

Actually, the one time I had to phone Mailboat with a question, they were incredibly nice and helpful. But I am sure they get tired of us emailing them about release dates, and I am sure they are filling Christmas orders.

They are going to be careful about releasing any live shows with the continued promotion for "License To Chill" still in full swing. There is only so much advertising money and marketing manpower to go around. There are a lot of co-ops in place right now - pick up any Sunday circular for proof. Mailboat is even placing ads (see the newest issue of Tracks).

I do realize, of course, "Live In Hawaii" was released during the initial "LTC" frenzy. But that is the exception to the rule. With the book, the theatre show, talk of another single (and probably a video), the "Live In" shows from the LTC tour are further down their priority list than ours.

It would make sense to release the live shows at one of two times next year: 1) around the time tickets go on sale for the spring/summer tour or 2) when the tour actually kicks off.

That would be conventional wisdom. Though, as we all know, Mailboat certainly has not displayed a lot of that.

I actually emailed them and asked them about the releases as well. I got a bit more of a detailed response.

"We will start releasing 4-6 of the License To Chill Shows Feb/Mar/April"

Notice he does not specify what year.
