Kelleys Island, Ohio

Post by greatheart »

If anyone in the Great Lakes area is looking for a good vacation spot or weekend getaway, I recommend Kelleys Island, Ohio. Its located in Lake Erie and is accesible via ferry or plane. I spend most of my summers there and it never gets old. You leave the burdens of the world behind on that half hour ferry ride. You can walk into any of the bars on the island at any given time and hear a Buffett song within no time. If anyone wants more info, go to kelleysisland.com

Put in Bay is a small island with tropical themes. They have a phlocking every summer. A lot of bars and a few shops. People call it the Mardi Gras of the north. You can get there by plane or ferry. On the weekends, you can't find an empty boat dock.

Kelleys Island is much more laid back than Put-In-Bay but still a blast. It gets crowded on the weekends but thins out during the week. Since its so close, alot of people come only for a day or two over the weekend. Most people get around by golf cart and there are plenty of interesting sites to see and places to visit. I'm almost hesitant to tell too many people about it as No one really wants it to become Put-In-Bay.

Put in Bay is a great weekend get away (especially for those looking to waste away their liver). I make at least one good weekend trip there a year. It is especially good for Bachelor/bachelorette parties. Also contains sight seeing for families.
My whole world lies waiting behind DOOR #3! In the meantime, I am just sippin' on a margarita.........

If you want to go to Put in bay, book now, most of the hotels will have their weekends book before April. Also download the song Put in bay from Pat Daley, great song, in fact he should be playing it in the near future at Sloppy joe's
