I topic I know a lot about. First of all Phin Power to you for the broken ankle/foot. They make a cast cover for just that. They run about $20 I think. It consists of a plastic/vinyl that goes over the cast then elastic/rubber forms around the leg that will not let water in.
You know, just PM me and I can give you info if you need it.

Are you going on a WindJammer Barefoot Cruise? Those are great trips.
As for the cast, have the doc put a fiberglass cast on. I broke my ankle in 5 places and then went scuba diving with the cast. You have make sure you rinse it with fresh water after you get out of sea and then let it dry via the air or a hair drier.
Or ask the doc to put you in one of the removable cast (boot).
Have the great time.

Yikes Bixx. I broke my ankle in several places a few years back. Lots of pins and plates put me back together again.
As was mentioned earlier there are waterproof cast covers. You can usually get them at your local medical supply store. They can be a real pain to get on and off, but at least the leg ones are easier than the arm ones where you have to put it on with one hand....(I used one of those when we went to Ireland after I broke my wrist)
If you're going on a windjammer, congrats. They are a really fun trip.
I'm surprised they are letting you do any weight bearing on your ankle. I wasn't even allowed a walking cast for 2 1/2 months....
One thing about Windjammer, they nearly always use tenders instead of letting you off at docks. Could be a problem....
