If Santa is wrapping this year - can we please make sure he knows to leave some airholes in my present - I need Mr Jackman breathing for when he gets here :wench:

Presents that came from Santa were always wrapped in paper that had "Santas" on it, so that Mom could tell them apart and we would be none the wiser. :D

This debate has been going on im my house since my daughter was little...when I was growing up, I would run downstairs to see what Santa brought..it was cool to see a racetrack setup and ready to go..or in my sisters case, a kitchen set all put together...presents from Mom & Dad were wrapped...My wife goes with the wrapped presents...one of my favorite memories wis of her rewrapping gifts at 2 am because they all had the same paper....

details, please - you don't use real dirt do you? :o
no silly ph  make a template of a shoe - cut it out and then sprinkle baking soda lightly. I did foot prints from the fireplace through the house and up the stairs to where he was sleeping. Double bonus as your house get's a refreshing smell when you vacuum it up too :D
We don't have a fireplace, but he must still have some residue on his boots - got it covered!

BUT, did the prints go in and then back out, or did Santa disappear in a *poof* from upstairs in your case? (this sounds fun)

Well we have wrapped presents.. even at 24 I get presents from Santa! I remember one year when I was quite young my grandfather suggested that we leave a bucket of apples out for the reindeer... the next morning the yard was littered in apple cores. It was the best memory!

I like that idea with the apple cores. We always had a combination of wrapped and unwrapped presents. No rhyme or reason. :D

Santa never wrapped our gifts. There was always one pile for me and one for my sister. The gifts from my parents were wrapped and under the tree.....that's how we knew the difference. We always left him some sugar cookies and some milk and were always amazed when it was gone the next day....it never occurred to me that my parents could have eaten the cookies. LOL. Santa was leaving us gifts until I was well into college.

I can't wait until next Christmas, when I get to play Santa for the first time. Not that the baby will really understand what's going on at that age, but I'm still looking forward to it. :D

Not that. but a friend of mine moonlights as a chimney sweep. He keeps pieces of red felt in his tool box. If a kid is watching him work he palms one reaches up the chimney and says "Now what is this" The look on the kids face is ablolutely priceless. He did that to my niece about 15 years ago and she still has that piece of felt.

This is how we deal with the "same wrapping paper" issue with our kids, who at 9 and 12..STILL believe in Santa! :o

When they first asked that question a few years ago, I simply said that Santa is a VERY busy man and he doesn't have time to wrap all the gifts that he brings to each child's house. Therefore, the mommies and daddies have to wrap all the presents immediately after Santa drops them off. Hence, why they have the same paper that they saw us buy or that we use to wrap other people's gifts with (they do not get anything from us, ALL presents are from Santa!). It also explains why mommy and daddy don't want to wake up at 5 AM on Xmas morning...we had to stay up all night to wrap everything so no one is allowed down the stairs until 7 AM!

Nope - he was young enough that I could get away with just the "one way" footprints :D If I did it now I would have to go both ways (he's 8 now) :D

My oldest is 8 - I was thinking she would want an explanation! Youngest is 6, and they still believe.

Thanks PHAW! Hope to add it to the repertoir!!

We also have a magical ornament that climbs down from the tree every night and goes exploring... it's a competition to see who finds him 1st when decorating to get to hang him on the tree, and then it's a competition every morning to see who finds him 1st! Since the tree has been up, I haven't had to go up and wake either of them - they're downstairs before I'm done getting ready - think I should leave the tree up for the rest of the school year, or at least leave the magical ornament out!

(The funniest thing is that the magical ornament was doing this long before we had kids - it's just I used to be the one who had to find it every day. )
