Why? With all due respect, those are two of your opinions that have been expressed repeatedly, so you are identified with them... DBT great / KC bad
I don't think I've ever referred to DBT as being great, although they are admittedly one of my favorite bands. I also never said Chesney was bad, I merely expressed an opinion that I don't care for his music. I've seen other posters here say a lot worse than that about him but I'm the one that catches hell for expressing a well thought out opinion.
Whatever you've said, I'm just telling you what you're identified with.

So, I'm a fan of the Drive-By Truckers and I don't care for the music of Kenny Chesney, I don't think I need you or anyone else to tell me what I'm "identified" with. And your post stood to be corrected because I've never once said either of the things you attributed to me.

if this is the case, than you obviously don't know what most people here identify you with, because I most certainly do identify you with "DBT great / KC 'not my cup of tea' (because i dont remember you saying terrible or anything, just 'not my cup of tea')" Thats not a bad thing Jah, its just peoples perceptions of you, although infact i dont think anyone really knows you personally here, thats the way we think you are. we could be totally wrong, but until we get a different perception of you, thats how we'll see you.

Yeah, I'm a Truckers fan and a fan of a whole lot of other bands too but that still doesn't explain how they enter into a conversation that has absolutely nothing to do with them. I'm not pitting the Truckers against Chesney, I'm speaking of Chesney on his own merits. The Drive-By Truckers don't have anything to do him.

Chesney won't make a huge profit from that song (Island Boy), it won't be released as a single, none of the songs will be released as singles. You checked it out on iTunes, which only means you listened to 30s clips of the songs. Island Boy is a true story, and Its my favorite. I can kinda relate to it.

"Livin' life where stress is the enemy" - KC, Island Boy
Actually, I wasted $9.90 on the album. I really wanted to like it. No worries, the new Ani Difranco was also on my shopping list and it rocks!

You're still missing the point. Regardless of whether humor is involved or not, I fail to see how they play a part in a discussion about Kenny Chesney. As far as the amount of fans of the Truckers here, how exactly do you know how many fans there are of them here? Truth is, you don't. Plenty of people visit this site that don't post, you mean to tell me you have some sort of divine insight into what bands they like or dislike? Regardless of that, it doesn't matter to me how many there are, whether it be 3 or 3,000. It seems it matters more to some of you than it does or ever will to me. Again, none of this has anything to do with the topic at hand which is Kenny Chesney.

Jah - we all know the DBT have absolutely nothing to do with KC. We all also know one is one of your favorites, and the other is not. Unfortunately you'll have to endure good natured ribbing about both of these for the duration of your visit, unless you let us forget those opinions by never posting them again!

Wow, this has become quite the thread. Unfortunately, a little negative towards one another. Lets try to turn that around.
I am a music fan. I like lots of different kinds like most people. JB and KC just happen to be a couple of my favorites. When I listen to a song I want to feel the song, the beat and try to see what its about. It could be rock, pop, island, dance, rap or country. If its good for me than its good for me. I don't let any "style" rule what I listen to.
One of my best times was when I was on vacation many years ago and I took my girlfriend to my favorite harbour for a walk and there was a jazz club there. We went in with no expectations and ended up learning (well trying) how to swing dance. It was awesome. If you are inhibited by what "style" of music you listen too you are probably missing some good tunes.
Therefore, to each his own, music wise. I enjoy Jimmy, Kenny and MANY others.
I know everybody else here enjoys their music too.

well if you were smart, you would have listened to the entire album through CMT.com (for free) before buying it, so then you wouldn't have to waste ten dollars
